Not convinced that the Starria would be launched in India. Hyundai has been around in India for ages now and they read the market likes and dislikes pretty well. The typical Van styled vehicles have never done well in India. To me, the starria seems like a great alternative to the numerous Mini Vans in many south East Asian countries, usually dominated by Toyota and Honda. I just dont think Hyundai will ever bring this to India.

My assumption is that there is a different MPV being planned by Hyundai to take on the Ertiga, something more car like.

Link to real life video of the Staria:

This is seemingly a base/ taxi version of the vehicle & to me it looks like tourist taxis. I'm sure that's best use of this vehicle, but the variant showcased in above vide is not as Sauvé as few the image in earlier posts.

I am totally confused now. So does this sit below the Alcazar presumably with more MPV feel than pseudo SUV?

A half size smaller than the Alcazar too perhaps?

Thats a lot of launches in the space of a fortnight. Between the Alcazar and this.

Re: Rumour: Hyundai MPV to rival Marazzo & Ertiga

Is this Hyundai version of Sonet 7 seater? I have been spending too much time trying to understand the movie Tenet that this whole Hyundai-Kia business feels like the temporal pincer movement. One moving through segments in one direction and another one in opposite direction . I think Staria and Custo are two different things and this thread as a whole has got confused by too many model names.

Anyway this Hyundai-Kia assault is creating a big shift in our automotive scene. Suddenly we have multiple choices with proper automatics in all segments now.

Re: The Hyundai Staria MPV

This will be bigger and spacious than the Kia Carnival. Are both the cars made on the same platform?

The Hyundai Staria MPV stands 5,253 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width, and 1,990 mm high. The wheelbase of the Staria is 3,273 mm.
Whereas the Kia Carnival dimensions 5115 mm in length, 1985 mm in width, and 1755 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3060 mm

Re: The Hyundai Staria MPV

I don't know why everyone is talking as if this is going to launch in India and comparing it to the Kia Carnival.

This is a VAN type vehicle, which are quite popular in East Asian like S.Korea, Philippines, Thailand etc. and Gulf countries as people movers and also as cargo vans, ambulances etc. This is a new model (with a new name) of the Hyundai H-1/Starex series of Vans [which sit above Minivans (like Carnival) in capacity- upto 11 passengers] but are not as big as the Ford Transit/ Mercedes Sprinter.

For further context: Hyundai H-1/Starex, now the Staria plays in the same category as the Toyota Hiace.

Hyundai has definitely spiced it up quite a bit with luxury features, panaromic roof option and technology and a very distinct modern look. I really think the design looks cool and quite Apple-ish.

But, Hyundai will not launch this here unless Hyundai is sure that it can completely capture the Mercedes V-Class and Hiace import market. Even then its not a huge market. These would serve politicians and actors well, but I don't know if they are too keen to ride around in a Hyundai.
