Land Rover has confirmed a new 3-row variant of the Defender called the Defender 130. It will be sold in China, North America, and the Middle East.
The Defender 130 will have the same wheelbase as the Defender 110 (3,022 mm). However, the overall length of the SUV will be increased by 342 mm to 5,100 mm. It is expected to be offered in 7-seat and 8-seat configurations.
It is still unclear as to what powertrain options will be offered in the Defender 130. However, it could use the 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder plug-in hybrid that puts out 197 BHP and 500 Nm and the recently introduced 5.0-litre V8 that makes 511 BHP and 625 Nm.
In India, the Defender is offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 296 BHP and 400 Nm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and a permanent four-wheel drive system. The carmaker also offers the P400e variant which uses a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine and a 141 BHP electric motor.

While the more the better in some cases, what purpose do 7 seats serve in a recreational vehicle? I always thought defender is for the off road purists! No?
Defender 130 was the crewcab/doublecab pickup in the earlier model. It looked really nice when decked up. Whenever I hear 130, the ones in the movies Skyfall and Spectre come to mind.
This one is a Twisted modified Defender 130
I don't understand the point of keeping the wheelbase same as 110 and calling it a 130. It is looking terrible :Frustrati
Frankly, I don't see the point of this vehicle keeping the wheelbase same.
For something that is supposed to be an off roader huge overhangs mean disaster.
Might as well call it LR Defender Toofan Like Force Toofanrl:

The Land Rover Defender is currently offered in two versions - 90 (2-door) and 110 (4-door). It is also known that the British marque has been working on a much larger version of the Defender for quite a while now.
Dubbed the Defender 130, the new model is said to feature the same wheelbase as the 110 but have a much larger overhang. Now, ahead of its unveil, patent images of what seems to be the Defender 130 have leaked online.
The patent images showcase the design of the larger version of the Defender. They indicate the larger overhang, behind the rear axle, which should offer extra luggage and cabin space. The Land Rover Defender 130 is also expected to be more premium than the 110 sibling, offering a host of comfort and convenience features, while being equally capable off-road.
As per reports, the Land Rover Defender 130 will go on sale in international markets sometime in 2022. More details of the premium SUV will be revealed closer to the date of unveiling.

Afaik, patents are public. There is nothing known as a hidden patent. That is why if anyone has a secret, it should not be patented. Furthermore, some patent ownere also publish their own patent to let others know.
Talk about an ungainly rear! The 130 looks horrible when viewed from the front three quarters. I really don't see why the Defender needs 7 seats, when the Discovery does that a whole lot better!
Not sure if there is even a market for this. This looks ugly from almost all angles. Something like a Kia Soul married to old gen of Ford Expedition.
