The engine range is short. You can have a 1.0-litre T-GDI petrol engine with either 99bhp or 118bhp, each available with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Comfort, refinement and easy drivability are the car’s dynamic priorities, and they’re delivered upon pretty well.

The Bayon’s ride isn’t soft, but instead maintains reassuringly consistent body control with just a hint of firmness at town speeds.

This is a complete, well-priced, practical and dynamically respectable compact family car.

Re: Hyundai Bayon crossover to replace i20 Active in Europe

Euro NCAP safety ratings for the European-market Hyundai Bayon could be revealed on the 27th of October, 2021, possibly a rating extension of the i20 (or vice versa).

On an unrelated note, Global NCAP results are expected around the same time (26th-28th October, 2021). Will possibly include the MG Hector for India, Renault Kiger for India or Africa, Haval Jolion for Africa and other undisclosed models. Note that models and dates are based on speculation and rumour and are not confirmed.

Hyundai Bayon for Europe scores 4 stars in Euro NCAP safety assessments. The European Hyundai i20 has not been tested and this rating does not extend to the European i20.

The crossover scores 76% for adult occupant protection, 82% for child occupant protection, 76% for VRUs and 67% for safety assist (which limits its score).

Find test details here.

The Global NCAP World Congress Scheduled for 26-28 October 2021 has been cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions and has been pushed to 2022. Dates for 2021 results for #SaferCarsForIndia and #SaferCarsForAfrica remain unknown.
