Seems like the SSC Tuatara has just warmed up the hypercar game. The car looks angry already and looks like will go straight after the SSC to snatch back its speed crown lol

The dry weight target of 1,240 kg is quite incredible for this car. It's not just that they want to put the 8-liter quad-turbo W16 in it, but also all-wheel drive and a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox that can handle 1,850 Nm of torque. Such a drivetrain alone will account for over half of the aforementioned weight.

In Bugatti's own words, it is the "best theoretically possible" target, and I very much hope they achieve it.

Well, before that, I hope they do produce the car—it will be massively disappointing if they don't.

What if we developed an extreme, track-focused only hyper sports car? With the technological concept of the BUGATTI Bolide, we are now providing the answer. The experimental study of the BUGATTI Bolide is this track-oriented hyper sports car featuring a modified version of the iconic W16 engine with a minimal body for maximum downforce.

The BUGATTI Bolide is the most extreme, uncompromising, fastest and lightest vehicle concept in our company’s recent history – with an unprecedented weight-to-power ratio of 0.67 kg per PS. This is made possible by the combination of the W16 engine with 1,850 PS and a vehicle weight of just 1,240 kilograms.

The BUGATTI Bolide achieves figures that are almost on par with Formula 1 while its top speed is well above 500 km/h – without compromising optimum handling and maximum agility. The Bolide takes 3.07.1 minutes to complete a lap of Le Mans and 5.23.1 minutes* to get around the Nordschleife and thus promises to offer the ultimate BUGATTI performance kick.

They haven’t said anything about letting customers order/spec the car and drive it on the track.

The Bugatti Bolide has been revealed at the Peninsula Signature event -

40 units will be made (same amount of units as the Lamborghini SC V12 and Laferrari FXX K)

Let’s see if Bugatti makes their own racing program to compete with Ferrari’s Corse Clienti.

It’ll produce 1,600 horsepower and 1,600 nm of torque and weigh 1,450kg.

Not quite at those numbers (power is 1,600 horsepower and nm of torque) and the weight is 1,450kg, but it’s close enough.

Well, before that, I hope they do produce the car—it will be massively disappointing if they don't.

Now that they’ve officially announced 40 units will be made, surely they will produce it right?

How will Ferrari and McLaren react to this? Do you think they’ll attempt to compete with the Bolide with the next generation of their HyperCars (so with the Laferrari FXX K and McLaren P1 GTRs successor)

I’ll be getting one. The production is quite a bit out in the future, so let us hope nothing happens to derail the project.

This is easier said than done and they are unwilling to commit to this, yet.

It will actually produce close to the originally stated 1,850PS, albeit with 110 octane racing fuel. 1,600PS is the minimum guaranteed output with lesser fuel.

The weight gain (compared to the originally stated incredible numbers) is disappointing, but apparently it was unavoidable to make the car safe enough for the average amateur driver.

People don’t cross shop these cars and Bugatti doesn’t compete as such with these brands. The Bolide will be the end of an era: a tribute to the W16 engine.

Having said that, McLaren and Ferrari have some incredible cars in the works that people in the know can’t (shouldn’t) discuss publicly because of non-disclosure agreements.

The Bugatti Bolide is voted as the most Beautiful Hypercar in the world at the 36th Festival Automobile International Design Awards.





The production of Bolide is limited to just 40 units at a net unit price of four million euros each, with the first deliveries scheduled for 2024.
