Why is BMW doing this ugly grille parade???
The Germans were known to be nice and subtle.
People went crazy when the m4 was revealed.
Everyone hated the front grille.
And now even the m3 has it. At first, I thought it was two M4s pictured, I just didn't want to accept that the M3 has been ruined too. Alas, days of the classy beemers are gone. A kid would want to own a Beemer just for the looks, Not sure that's the case anymore.
The M3 looks a little like the older Hyundai sonata from the back.
Because of the rectangular tail lamps.
The M4 has a sleeker and sexier back side going for it.
The rear of both the cars look really really nice. The M4, more so because of it's coupe form factor.
The ugly faces are a little difficult to differentiate to the untrained eye.
I, for one was very sad to see the M3's front getting the same humongous grille treatment as the M4

I love the sides and the back, Just like I loved the embera

Everything is fine about the design other than that grill!
On a lighter note,
All BMW's are to forgo their identity 'Kidney Grill' in the future.
This will be replaced and renamed as 'Lung Grill'.
Some bumper manufacturer out there is looking at a crazy business opportunity.
Better looking bumpers for both these cars!
BMW is slowly converting the kidney grills into the literal shape of kidneys. Crazy sense of aesthetics.

As long as the quality and looks are good enough to match.

These Humongous grilles remind me of some civics in Kerala.
This bumper and body kit is in trend over there,
No offence to the owners but I think it's just ruining an icon

The grille reminds me of
I kind of like the new grill. It gives the car such an aggressive look. I am sure it would be much better in person. Also it helps to distinguish the M model from the rest of the 3 series line up.
Seriously! The new M3 & M4 are fantastic looking cars all-round, except for that ugly grille. What the heck is BMW thinking? At a time when Mercedes is at the top of its design game, BMW comes up with such rubbish. I think it's intentional to be "different" - there is no way everyone in the top leadership thinks this is good-looking. Someone just convinced them to think different & stand out from the crowd.
Yuck! Cars are as much about performance as they are about art & aesthetics. I'd never be able to gaze admiringly at such a face.
Can't really think of how this desgin was even approved!!
Even assuming that design is subjective and that these extraordinarily large grills were approved initially, why are they continuing to persist with it despite the largely negative feedback? What am I missing here? :confused:
Horrible looking front end on M3 and M4. They just ruined the front end look of the car.
I think more people will convert their car into pre-facelift version on the front end by purchasing previous model bumpers and grills. lol:

I just love how these M versions have such a distinctive & aggressive face differentiating so well from their non-M versions. Perfect homage for pre-war era BMW's. Note: Pre-War era BMWs had an equally large grille.

For myself- They render these Ms a very unique front end, very much welcome in an age where car designs look similar across the brands. The best designed M cars after E60 M5.
Side Note- I am someone who thinks Chris Bangle is one of the best car designers ever, E60- the best designed 5 series of all its generations, finds the new Creta extremely hot and almost all VWs barring the Atlas and Atlas Crossport boring. Thus, my opinions may not gel with the majority.
What is wrong with you BMW! Did you just give that front end design contract to DC.
Immaterial how good it is under the skin. With a face like that, after market modifiers are going to be laughing all the way to the bank while easing visual pain for the owners.
The cars would have been looking so much more aesthetically pleasing if they had made this following change :
If it was a 2 minute job for me on Photoshop, It is difficult for me to imagine a team of brilliant designers couldn't spot this possible modification for better aesthetics whilst retaining company wide grille design!
