Rolls Royce has released a teaser image of the next generation Ghost. It is scheduled to be unveiled later this year.



The next generation Ghost will be based on a new aluminium architecture that also underpins the Phantom and Cullinan SUV. The teaser image show the outline of the new Ghost and hints at an evolutionary design featuring a long bonnet and a high shoulder line.

The new Ghost will be powered by a 6.6-litre, twin-turbo V12 engine. This is the same engine that powers the flagship BMW 7 Series, which is the M760Li. It will be paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The car could get all-wheel drive and four-wheel steering as well.

The new Rolls Royce Ghost will compete in the luxury segment with the Bentley Flying Spur.

So we finally get to see the New Ghost.

The rear looks beautiful, no doubt. To me, it looks the best from this angle below.


But, IMO the front, specially the lower black part, does not have that same regal charm as before and looks like a Chinese knock-off of the current gen Ghost to my eyes TBH . Nevertheless, I expect it to look much better in flesh.



Looks like they wanted to make the front look a bit more sportier, so they went with sharper lines compared to the earlier Ghost which had a much smoother front facia.


Looking at the pictures, the interior design looks like an evolution of the previous Ghost interiors.


We have to sit inside the Ghost to really appreciate the interior details and comment about it. But I am pretty sure it will be a step above the older one in every way possible.

In conclusion, I'd say the earlier gen has a more regal charm to it & it might take a while to get accustomed to the new Ghost.

A similar scenario arose when the Phantom VIII was unveiled, where people commented on how it lost its charm, but slowly it's looks grew on me and now, I'd say it looks better than the older one. I expect a similar outcome from the New Ghost.

Eagerly waiting for the major reviewers to get their hands on one to get a more in-depth look and much needed outdoor shots to really appreciate the design.

Have mixed feelings about this.

IMO Rolls has made this a bit too evolutionary in styling - almost verging on being boring, if I can use the word for a Rolls, that is. The prime rival, Bentley, on the other hand has been taking far bigger strides in terms of style and I strongly feel that it will show out on the road.

Found an interesting article online. Apparently the new Ghost was so eerily silent inside, engineers had to add some noise to make it comfortable.

Occupants found the near total silence disorienting, according to the British automaker, because the lack of sound didn't match up with the car's movement.

What was needed was a relaxing background sound. So the acoustic engineers worked on "harmonizing" various sounds in the car so they would combine into a continuous soft whisper. The seat frames, for example, naturally resonated along with the body of the car so dampers were added to adjust the level of that sound without entirely eliminating it. Also, a vent was added to the trunk, allowing some of the thrumming bass note created there to escape while, again, not getting rid of it entirely.

I do see a hint of evolution to 'sharp edges' instead of smoother lines, I like this, but everytime I watch the front, I somehow am reminded of the new BMW 7 series front

Update: Now I got it where did Rolls resemble the BMW.

1. The owner company influence
2. Bumper-foglamp section resembles of a few BMW models
3. Edgy and slim headlamp profile
4. THE GRILLE IS ILLUMINATED! The BMW influence is definitely here. Visible in the reveal video.

I am SAD! One side we have the modern looking S-Class, on the other side here is the Ghost revealed with some modern bits.

The interior is fine, but the exterior just doesn't carry the elegance it had in it's previous iteration.
