Re: 21st Century French Luxury Cars

And now a question for the true “nerdy-Citroen” types under us:

Who knows what the Citroen logo at the front of many of their cars is supposed to mean/represent? It was pretty high tech and innovative at the time! Enough to stick it on their cars at least, although very few people would know (or possibly even care)

The Chevron's are artistic representation of gears.

Well, yes, but it is more than that. What makes it unique to the extend that Peugeot stuck in all its cars? All cars have gears, lots of them! What sets these apart?

Like you said, I don't care and didn't know, but it is an interesting backstory:

Many people don’t know nor care. But is interesting that most would be able to recognise the two Vs as (part of the) Citroen logo.

From your link:

Quote:
Herringbone gears have unique, V-shaped tooth structures which are engaged during rotation and also happen to look very cool.
The V-shape meant these gears would run much more quiet and efficient.

Citroen did not invent it, merely bought the rights and managed to start using it in mass production. The fact that Andre Citroen puts something so technical and nerdy into his company logo probably shows he was a hardcore engineer at heart. (or at least that’s what I like to think!)
