Toyota Hilux facelift leaked

Leaked images of the updated Toyota Hilux have surfaced online.

According to the images, the Hilux is likely to get a substantial redesign. The front end features a large hexagonal grille that has a chrome frame. The sweptback headlamps are believed to house bi-beam LED lights and LED daytime running lights. Lower variants are likely to get regular halogen lights with an integrated LED position lamp.

At the rear, the Hilux features wraparound LED tail lights and a dual-tone rear bumper. The high-mounted stop lamp is positioned on the tail gate just above the chrome handle. The images also suggest that the Hilux could be offered with 18-inch aluminium wheels, while the lower-spec model could get 17-inch aluminium wheels. The lower variants also miss out on the chrome grille.

One of the leaked images reveals the colour options that could be offered in the updated Hilux. The colour palette is divided into three categories. There are four 'Basic Colours' - Super White, Silver, Gray and Attitude Black. 'Regional Colours' include Oxide Bronze, Dk. Blue, Crimson Spark Red, Orange and Nebula Blue. The two 'Premium Colours' are Emotional Red and White Pearl.

Re: Toyota Hilux facelift leaked

This looks wicked!

The design is a marked departure from the Far Eastern lines that Toyota's usually sport and moves towards classic Americana with the bold grille and massive light kits. This moves in the direction of the Raptor school of thought, which is a massive hit amongst the pickup customer base.

Re: Toyota Hilux facelift leaked

The facelift definitely gives the Hilux an upmarket air. Could we expect similar facelift on the upcoming Fortuner facelift? It would certainly make the Fortuner more butch akin to the original AN60 Fortuner which was first launched in India

The rear tail lamps looks so much Scorpio-ish, at least to me, it appears so.

Cannot eliminate the chances for that, as both share same platform and previous gen Fortuner had similar styling of Hilux.

New Hilux looks more sturdy with its new face similar to that of Highlander.

Re: Toyota Hilux facelift leaked

The facelift does look different and butch, borrowing from its USDM big brother Tundra in the sense, going the route of American full size trucks with extra size grilles that though unwanted and comical on some sense, does do wonders to overall menacing look.

The rear styling is the surprising one, while it maintains the overall shape that it had for past two decades (including crossing two generations) , the different interior elements had made all the difference.

Scoop pics of the facelifted Fortuner are already out.
The front looks good like the Rav4 and the USDM 4Runner, but the rear bumper applique feels kinda unwanted. Maybe it's the colour giving out iProduct, toyish kind of vibe.

Re: Toyota Hilux facelift leaked

The new Hilux design seems to align with the Toyota Tacoma. The same hexagonal grille treatment. This will probably be the new design language on all Toyota UV's going forward.

Hilux is my favorite pick up truck. Having worked in the Middle East where this vehicle was everywhere, I have seen how tough the Hilux is. Too bad Toyota in India preferred to remain a Passenger Vehicle automaker & never gave any thought to the Commercial Vehicle space.

There is an ultimate video on the punishment Hilux vehicles can take. Link is given below:

Re: Toyota Hilux facelift leaked

I'm actually still surprised why does Toyota still not sell the Hilux in India. The Vcross has seen fair numbers and I'm sure with the Toyota badge of super reliability it will find double the takers in India as well.
Out of all those who buy fortuners for adventure and offroading, I'm sure 80% would go for the hilux owing to the high level of customization available for it and the more robust overall setup.

A couple of reasons, Toyota has Two plants, one where they make Innova and Fortuner and other for Liva twins. It’s the second plant that’s lying under-utilized. The first plant is utilized almost completely.

Secondly, contrary to popular perception especially with folks here, you maybe surprised that the major sales of Fortuner cones from 2 W - Auto. 4*4 Auto constitutes a small portion of their sales in India.

Now, if they were to launch a Hilux, most people will look at a price close to Rs 20 lac - auto and 4x4 which Toyota can’t do.

Let me ask you a question, how much maximum will you pay for a loaded Hilux?

Re: Toyota Hilux facelift leaked

I haven't seen the specs of a fully loaded Hilux but I'm guessing that it would be something similar to the Fortuner right. So if it comes at around 25L Ex showroom I'd be a happy man! Of course no cost cutting and the full flair would be expected. Difflock and Atrac plus the usual fortuner level of equipment.

What is your opinion on the cost of a fully loaded Hilux?

I won't say 80% . Just because of that open deck, yes, someone who has another SUV or his / her family does not mind sitting in a commercial looking pick-up would go for it. I too would prefer a SUV body style over a pick-up any day unless one is transporting some odd smelling stuff and wishes it to be outside the cabin .

No no Sheel, please see 80% of the ones who buy the fortuner only for off-roading and adventure trips.
Now you and I would buy a fortuner for family use as well. But it would be a good adventure buy! I would not mind having it as a second vehicle exclusively for the dirty job!

Then, it would be a very small percentage, IMHO, small enough to not warrant Toyota sell the Hilux.

If I too have the money, who would mind having one in the garage ?

Nope, It's actually more than Fortuner

As an example, here are prices from Australia. You can ignore conversion rates for the moment

Very difficult. That's the reason they don't launch for a tiny set of people. Remember, V - Cross success was majorly because of the low price - 15-18 Lac and Isuzu understands this well. They are still not able to make up on the future models due to high costs of Euro 6 version.

You should have picked the 1,9 Ltr Isuzu, which they launched some time back. I don't know what's happening with Isuzu. Privately, dealerships are not happy as they have diluted the brand. Most of their senior manpower in sales came from Mahindra and Tata. They got into chasing low margin commercial division, giving fewer priorities to the SUV/ MUV but that's a story for a different thread.

Go ahead and buy Fortuner before Toyota increases the prices. USD is now over 77, there is no way, we will see old prices for long irrespectve of the demand. Forget the Endeavour.

Re: Toyota Hilux facelift leaked

Well yeah primarily for that reason the Innova is actually waiting at the dealership to be picked up. And now just finalizing on the colour of the fortuner. How far is the face-lift by your reckoning?

But non the less I would love to pick up a Hilux. The 1.9L vcross was nearly finalized but problem being the unclear nature of Isuzu in india. Part of the reason I'm still not applying for it's dealership.
