Toyota, Corollas' new compact SUV "Corolla Cross" Gasoline car and hybrid car are available and the price starts from 1,999,000 yen. (~ ₹ 13.4 lakhs)


Gasoline cars and hybrid cars are available in the powertrain lineup, and the prices for gasoline cars range from 1,999,000 to 2,640,000 yen( ~₹ 17.7lakhs) 2WD (FF) and E-Four 4WD are available for hybrid vehicles, and the price ranges from 2,590,000 yen(~ ₹ 17.3 lakhs) ) to 3,199,000 yen (~ ₹21.4 lakhs)

The Corolla Cross will be a model located between Toyota's SUV lineup, the middle-sized SUV "RAV4" and the compact class SUV "Yaris Cross."
The RAV4 will use the TNGA GA-K platform and the Yariskros will use the TNGA GA-C platform, while the Corolla Cross will use the same TNGA GA-C platform as the new Corolla.

The "C-HR" is a lineup of SUVs that use the TNGA GA-C platform, but while the C-HR is positioned as a specialty SUV, the new model Corolla Cross is more utility. It will be an SUV that emphasizes.

The body size is 4490 x 1825 x 1620 mm (total length x total width x total height). The wheelbase is 2640mm. The minimum ground clearance is 160mm for both 2WD and 4WD. This will be a brilliant fit in the Indian market. Ideally I would like a top of line hybrid variant to retail on road at about INR 32 - 35 lakh as realistic pricing.

It definitely doesn't look exciting by any measure. Even the looks, both interior as well as exterior I feel actually look very 2015 (comparable more to the current gen Tucson for instance rather than something that says 2022.

I'd definitely put it on my list for my 25 - 35L second car purchase. The hybrid efficiency makes a strong case for itself in today's times, combined with the absence of range anxiety from full blown EVs currently.

Now unless the side profile would’ve been visible it’s hard to tell which make and model it is and whether it is actually a Corolla Cross!

This is a little off topic. But since this post on Toyota Corolla appeared on the homepage of Team-BHP the same day that I went to check out Toyota cars for a friend, I felt like putting in my enquiry here and throwing in some info too. Are Toyota Corolla Cross and Toyota Raize available in India?

Corolla Cross comes with 2.4 litre petrol engine as told by the salesman. The ground clearance is 200mm. The price of MT is 1.16 crores NPR and for automatic is 1.36 crores NPR. This feels solidly built and exudes elegance. Since, this was too expensive, there was no point in test driving it. Then we went to check the Raize ( pronounced as in Rise). It was imported directly from Indonesia and appeared so much like Brezza. The built quality was poorer than Brezza and door panels were filmsy. The interior was a compromise too. The gears did not slot well and 1.2 liter petrol engine was just adequate for getting from point A to B on flat roads. It cost 66 lacs NPR for a 5 gear MT and 72 for auto. I did not find them value for money. On asking them, why should anyone buy Raize over say Creta SX costing 60 lacs or a Magnite turbo costing 40 lacs, he answered reliability. Well, too high a premium for reliability for a car that should cost around 40 lacs NPR.
Anyway, Corolla cross was a nice place to be and seemed so perfect. It was a tad smaller than RAV4 which was on display just beside it, but perfect for my kind of usage. I hope to go for a test drive someday soon; but then they will thrown in so many call later on to coerce on buying. Looking forward to an EV version of Corolla Cross which should come at half this price. For those not aware about costs of cars in Nepal, ICE cars attracts a tax of 240% which EV do no carry much tax. For reference, Swift vxi is 32 lacs NPR, Nexon Petrol XZ+ is 48 lacs NPR and Nexon EV top variant is 41 lacs NPR.

Actually the car spotted by MotorOctane is the new gen Hyundai Tucson, just to get some attention they have mentioned Corolla Cross. Had messaged the founder of MotorOctane, he saw my message as well but sadly didn’t correct the mistake.

Easy way to identify is the ORVM. On the car spied the mirror is differently placed compared to both Corolla Cross and Yaris Cross.

I doubt the Yaris Cross will make it to India (it’s too expensive for India, I’m sure Toyota doesn’t want another Yaris experience), the person from Toyota could’ve confused the Creta-rival that both Toyota and Suzuki are co-developing as the Yaris Cross, which will be built in Toyota’s factory currently where only the Camry is assembled.

1-year waiting period, Japan suspends bookings for Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid.

Unable to cope with the demand, a situation that is made worse by the on-going semiconductor parts shortage, Toyota dealers in Japan have temporarily stopped accepting any more bookings for the Corolla Hybrid.

It is unclear when the suspension will be lifted but Japanese buyers looking for a Corolla Cross are now being directed to the regular combustion engine variant, which has a shorter, 6 months waiting period.
