re: Your preferred "one-car garage"

My current car kind of ticks this box already. A 3 GT. Its not so big that I can't take it to certain places. Its a great car to drive, to be driven in. I use it to go to off beat rough road places; great for touring. I use it on my cycling trips where it swallows my bike with its neat notchback design without as much as needing to take a single wheel off.

re: Your preferred "one-car garage"

If I had to have only 1 car in India, it would be the Octavia vRS. It's got a lot of power, sporty looks and a huge boot. Plus it's not perceived as a 'branded' car, so can be taken pretty much anywhere. I'm not into off-roading at all, so wouldn't need a SUV.

If the BMW 330i had a bigger boot, I would have chosen that but with the spare tyre in the boot, I'm not sure that it's a good fit for airport runs.

It would have to be this! Practicality and Performance all rolled into one mean looking package. It's a shame that we don't get more estates in India.

My current 1 car garage is the Nexon XZA + AMT and it works well for me . But if money were no object then the Lamborghini Urus., and 2. Rolls Royce cullinan. More seriously, the Range Rover evoque it is for me, stylish , good looking and not astronomical.

re: Your preferred "one-car garage"

I would want to say the Porsche Macan Turbo S (Fun to drive since its a Porsche but practical since its an SUV) but since like someone said, I think I should be realistic and hence I would say Jeep Compass (limited plus, diesel, manual).
I prefer compact cars, so this fits the bill there, FCA 2.0 litre Diesel engine with a slick shifting manual transmission and excellent dynamic package for an SUV and hence the fun part taken care of. Probably not the most practical SUV available in the budget but its practical enough for most people and its probably not the most VFM option either but hey, the heart wants what the heart wants!
Will be the perfect upgrade to our Ecosport when that day comes finally.

re: Your preferred "one-car garage"

So I am going to be the odd one out here and say the Honda CR-V. The fact that I have one for the past 5 years may be the reason but damn I just love that car to bits but damn it's low mileage. Other than that, it's brilliant!

If budget is not an issue my pick would be the LAMBORGHINI URUS.
It's a perfect track car which offers practicality for Indian usage.

re: Your preferred "one-car garage"

Wow, we people do love SUVs. The comments are badly skewed towards SUVs. And why not be, SUVs have evolved to satisfy all our needs and be the only car we would ever need.
I have 3 scenarios:
Current + Covid + recession: My EcoSport will satisfy me for years to come.
Wishful : Seltos or an Endevour
Desire: A Range Rover please (model doesn't matter if its a RR)

re: Your preferred "one-car garage"

Interesting thread.

One car garage has to be a 'jack of all trades' and so probably won't be a master at any. It would have to be the one car do all...moderately well. We have a real dilemma on our hands.

As I see it, for me...

#Should be able to go places, but cannot be a brute, lifted off road truck because
#It has to look the part when driving onto the star hotel porch as well. But it
#Cannot be sluggishly slow where it sucks your soul out slowly nor can it be a scorching fast hot hatch because
#It needs to be large enough for airport trips and school runs but cannot be too large either because
#shouldn't need a forklift to push elders inside and most important of all if this is the only car in the garage it
#has to be not intimidating for the missus to drive as well.

One car for family picnics, highway runs and airport duty. Something that's equally at ease for Track day with buddies or date night with wife...and still within a somewhat realistic budget.

Skoda Kodiaq vRS, 7 seats, practical, good looking family wagon and the fastest 7 seater SUV on the Nurburgring.

re: Your preferred "one-car garage"

If there is no budget constraint, then it has to be the Alpina D5 S Touring for my one car garage. With a limited budget, my one car garage will have the Tata Hexa XT 4x4.
