Next generation 2020 Audi A3 hatchback launched. India should get the sedan version in late 2020 or 2021 I assume.

Sharp looks but I at least don't like the front as a whole. Interiors are very classy except for those weird AC vents.

When Hyundai was moving out of the fluidic design language their cars where having this Audi-sque air about it (attributed to Peter Schreyer influence). But I believe its role reversal; the H logo suits the A3 more than the four rings. The interiors still has the classy Audi air though!

I love it! Big fan of Audi's designs here, and think the company is doing the best job of retaining "brand language" along with contemporariness. The front looks edgy & sporty, yet unmistakably Audi.

Head on, looks like a miniature SUV to my eyes - rather than a hatchback. Hope they tone down the design for the sedan version.

Audi should rather launch it in the Hatchback form as this is a looker. Somehow they will lose the way when they make this a sedan.

Hope they don't plonk the 1.0 TSI in this.

Love the design! All sharp lines everywhere without overdoing it. The interiors are looking amazing, especially the virtual cockpit!!! Having said that, there isn’t anything there making you go wow like the previous gen’s tablet rising up did. What I absolutely hate is the absence of a volume button. Why Audi why? Who the hell decided to replace a nice simple button with some digital oversensitive dial :Frustrati Are all premium car makers hiring one idiot on the design team whose sole job is to take good old functionality one step back with each new iteration?

Nice design as always from the Audi brand. Somehow not liking the new headlamp design / LED inserts though. They seem a bit game / sci-fi like rather than typical understated Audi looks.

Opinions will always be subjective when it comes to design. While certainly impressive, it does look like a Hyundai from the outside. Now if you were upgrading from a Hyundai to an Audi, would you want your new ride to be mistaken for a Hyundai? That's the million rupee question.

There’s a much stronger deviation from the current A3 inside, with a fresh interior that looks more sophisticated. Following the rest of the Audi lineup, the new car ditches the pop-up infotainment screen, in favor of a 10.1-inch display, now baked into the center console. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto pairing come standard and the latest MMI navigation is an optional upgrade. Audi’s signature Virtual Cockpit digital gauge cluster now comes standard as a 10.3-inch screen, with a 12.3-inch cluster and head-up display available on the options sheet.

Beyond the sizable tech upgrades, the rest of the A3’s cabin is more eye-catching, with the same hexagonal design theme (made cool by the Lamborghini Huracan) present on the air vents and parts of the door panels. We see a kinship with the MK8 Golf and GTI in the center console, including the shift-by-wire gear selector and engine start/stop button.

The new Audi A3 sedan adopts the same technologies as the recently revealed A3 Sportback, with mild-hybrid powertrains, refined suspension and a heavily revised interior.

Stylistically, the next-generation A3 sedan is only subtly updated over its predecessor, but it is intended to have a more coupé-like appearance.

The booted A3 is longer, wider and taller than before, creating an extra 20mm of headroom in the front along with more elbow room, while boot space remains unchanged, at 425 litres. The car sits on the same updated MQB platform like the new Volkswagen Golf. This platform is claimed to be lighter yet also more rigid than the one it replaces.

The model receives digital daytime running lights, made up of 15 LEDs, for the first time. Certain trim derivatives have an individual light signature to set them apart.

The standout engine is a 150hp 1.5-litre TFSI petrol unit with 48V mild-hybrid technology, first announced in the A3 Sportback. Available only when paired with Audi’s S tronic 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, it can recover about 16hp during deceleration, supports the engine with up to 50Nm of torque when driving off and can coast with its engine off for up to 40sec. It promises a 10 percent improvement in fuel consumption.

There are two other engine choices at launch – the same 35 TFSI with 150hp but with a 6-speed manual transmission, and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel delivering 150hp and paired with a 7-speed S tronic.

Later, a 115hp 2.0-litre TDI diesel will arrive alongside a 110hp 1.0-litre 30 TFSI three-cylinder petrol. The 30 TFSI engine will be available as a 48V mild-hybrid in dual-clutch guise. Two plug-in hybrid variants will go on sale further down the line.

There is a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen that’s angled slightly towards the driver, while a new climate control unit below it replaces rotary dials with buttons.

Good styling for the new A3 Sedan. Subtle changes on the outside but the interiors have changed drastically. Audi India should launch this in India at the earliest as the current model is already discontinued. As for engines, I hope they don't go lower than the current 1.4 TSI. Not expecting diesels soon.

True to Audi's recent suicidal streak, Autocar says it will come to India in mid-2021! :Frustrati

Why do I feel like I am looking at Verna?

Because Hyundai's styling has lately been highly influenced from Audi designs. Most Hyundai cars now have Audi like big grill on them.

India specific A3 will most probably get 1.5 TSI motor which is used in T-ROC & Karoq as well.
