Volkswagen has released sketches of the Polo Sedan for Russia.

Built on the old PQ25 platform instead of the MQB in order to keep costs down.















Exterior design takes cues from the Jetta and Passat in North America.

The sedan is scheduled to launch in June 2020.

Based on the images, the interior borrows from the Golf with features such as the 10.25-inch Active Info Display digital instrument cluster, a freestanding 8.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a T-Cross inspired gear lever and a minimalist climate control panel.

Polo Sedan will offer a choice of three petrol engines; a 66 kW normally aspirated 1.6 and a 1.0 TSI in 81 kW and 92 kW states of tune. Depending on the engine, Volkswagen will make three transmission available, a five-speed manual, six-speed Tiptronic and a seven-speed DSG.

The Polo Sedan grew significantly: if the dimensions of the previous generation were 4,390 x 1,699 x 1,467 m, it is now 4,483 x 1,706 x 1,484

LED headlights will be standard in all variants.

Is now equipped with a multimedia system with App-Connect support and a touch screen with a diagonal of 6.5 or 8.25 inches.

For the Russian market, the model will be offered in four versions: Origin, Respect, Status and Exclusive.

India is likely to get the Virtus built on the MQB A0 IN platform or does VW have other plans?

That actually looks pretty neat. Hopefully we get it in . VW should really make a GLI version of this just like the Jetta.

Guess with the declining interest in sedans in India, chances of this making it in the near future seems bleak. I guess VW will be happy to peddle the Vento for what ever numbers it can do and make up the volumes with the 'SUV's which are the flavor of the season

No, they have revealed the plan to bring a 'notchback'( Virtus?) from Skoda and VW in late 2021/ 22, after the SUV launches.

Actually, if you look at the SIAM (YTD Dec) figures for Skoda, they seem to be the only manufacturer who have done well in the mid-size (-42%*) and executive segment. Which also showed with their prominent displays of the Rapid and Superb at the Auto Expo. With massive de-growth exp by Ciaz (-45%*), City (-42%*), Verna (-38%*) and Yaris (-82%*), Skoda seems to have done quite well.

Polo Sedan details officially revealed:

- Will be sold in 4 trim levels

- Several engines to choose from: 1.6- 90 hp, 110 hp and 1.4 with 125 hp

- The 90 and 110 hp units are mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox

- The 110 horsepower engine can also be equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission,

- The 125 horsepower engine is combined with a 7-speed DSG.

- Dimensions of 4483 x 1706 x 1484 mm, with trunk volume has increased of 550 liters. Ground Clearance is 170 mm.

Each version is equipped with an ESP holder, Isofix, for installation on the rear of child seats. The novelty is equipped with front airbags with an optional passenger shutdown function, as well as side curtain airbags (optional) in the front and side airbags. In addition, an electronic immobilizer and an anti-theft system are available for the Polo. All Polo versions are also equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system.

Absolutely love the cockpit. Audi style digital consoles also look great, not sure if it's going to make it to the India Spec.

Side profile is very Jetta-esque, but stubby.

Smart looking car but not exactly futuristic or exciting. Same theme with the interiors, smart but not very futuristic. Slightly disappointing.

These looks might grow on me with time, but for now, current generation Vento (below) looks more balanced, at least, in terms of the exteriors. Interiors are a different matter though.

"Audi-esque." That's the word I would use too. Funny 'coz the last time I used that word was to describe the 2020 VW Passat, to which this latest Polo Sedan/Vento has more than just passing similarity.

From the pictures, I can also see that this latest Vento is a 5-Door Liftback bodystyle like the Skoda Octavia. And, this one has a rear wiper too. I love that

I hope VW brings this to India with competent engines.

Engines are known - will be the 1.0L TSI as the mainstay one and the 1.5L TSI in the performance version. (Year 2022 )

This would be a great upgrade for us Polo owners. If this car passes NCAP tests, I'd be willing to plonk my cash down for it.
