The 2021 Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman line-up will include a 4.0-litre, naturally aspirated flat-six engine. It will be offered in the GTS trim.

Visually, there are not many changes to the six-cylinder model compared to the regular four-pot car. The engine produces 389 BHP and 419 Nm. Both the cars are claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 293 km/h. The cars also get a mechanical limited slip differential.

The 4.0L cars ride 20 mm lower than other cars and include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) sports suspension and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) as standard.

While pricing has not yet been announced, the cars are expected to sit between US$80,700 and US$96,300 and available from the end of March 2020 in Germany.

The main downside of the current Cayman was that it lost the 6-cylinder motor. Great to see the option come back as there is no replacement for cylinders...the more the better. A six will be smoother and (sound) sweeter!

~400 BHP & ~400 Nm is more than enough for India. Bring the GTS here fast.

Interesting facts about the new boxster gts. This 4.0 has apparently nothing to do with the 4.0 in the gt3 or gt3 rs. It’s actually derived from the four pot 2.5 boxer. Basically they got rid of the turbos and added two cylinders. Also the internet is again rife with rumours and conspiracy of how Porsche deliberately sandbags its cayman with detuned engines and absurdly long gear ratios so they can stop it from outperforming it’s bigger brother , the 911.

Nothing more sweeter than this to read in the morning. After all the baby Porsche's were neglected in the previous versions as the flat-6 in the earlier versions was not given as an option. Good to see the 4.0 litre make it's debut. As the quote here goes "No replacement for displacement " .

Checked with a friendly dealership, currently Porsche India has no plans to bring this here. Makes sense as with higher duties over cheaper Boxters, this will get about same as 911.

The 2020 718 GT4 with the 6 cylinder flat six engine coupled with manual gearbox, sounds like most exciting car coming out of Porsche's factory in recent times.

2021 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4, Spyder Get PDK Dual-Clutch Automatic as Option.



Porsche announced that the once manual-only 718 Cayman GT4 and Spyder are now available to order with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.

The 718 Cayman GT4 and Spyder are powered by a 4.0-liter flat-six that produces 414 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque.

In addition to the GT4 and Spyder, the recently announced flat-six–powered 718 Cayman and Boxster GTS 4.0 models can be had with a PDK, with U.S. dealers slated to get them in early 2021.

Now that Porsche has added the PDK gearbox, it would make for an interesting comparison with the Alpine A110. Porsche has the more powerful and obviously the better sounding engine, but the A110 is much lighter. Which will be faster and better around a track? Can't wait for the comparisons (with these specs) to start appearing on the internet.

Porsche India is now accepting booking for GT4 & Spider in manual variants. Few slots available for September production.


GT4 gets a lot of standard equipment and a starting price of around 1,63. Prices for options are also available. Spider is a little cheaper.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS production ready spy photos

While the standard 718 Cayman GT4 has to make do with only 414 horsepower, the beefier RS is said to pack close to 500 hp from a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter engine.

2021 Porsche 718 Boxster 25th Anniversary Model revealed.













It's powered by a 394-hp naturally aspirated flat-six engine. The Boxster 25 is based on the 718 Boxster GTS 4.0.

It's limited to 1250 units and has styling cues inspired by the Boxster concept that was shown at the 1993 Detroit auto show.
The Boxster 25 is available to order now starting at $99,950 and will arrive in dealers in the spring.
