This car was shown to prospetive customers ~1.5 years ago. Unless something has changed:

• It is very much an Aventador still: the engine, chassis, transmission, etc. are the same. I would characterized it as the best version of the Aventador yet.
• The price isn't USD $3.6M. It should be around USD $2.6M, unless Lamborghini jacked up the price recently. That's unlikely as it is a hard sell even at USD $2.6M.
• Technically, yes, it is a "hybrid powertrain". However, it's just a 48V system (you have 48V mild hybrid systems in the current generation Audi A6, A8, Q8, etc. too.), but this one utilizes a supercapacitor, so the charging/discharging characteristics are quite different.
• The electric part is only worth roughly 35 horsepower and it weighs roughly 35kg. So why go through the trouble of the extra weight and complexity? The primary purpose is not to improve acceleration or speed, but to improve transmission behavior by using electric power during the intervals when there is interruption in gasoline power because of an ISR gear shift.
• It looks insanely cool in real life. Nobody does spaceships poster cars like Lamborghini.

I really don't like the front of the car. Although it really reminds me of the front of the Gallardo. It's like a Gallardo front stretched to Aventador widths but in GTA. I also see a bit of Veneno and Centenario in it.



The rear is pretty cool though. I like it has departed from the typical Lambo styling. This car would definitely be a Decepticon.



Lastly, I'm a bit disappointed in the effort put in by Lamborghini with this car. For all the Huracans they sold, they're still using a slightly modified VAG mild hybrid system on an aging Aventador chassis. (Although the Aventador chassis has redeemed itself with the SVJ's manic capability, remember that the LP700s were a dud.)
I feel like Ferrari is still a step ahead of Lamborghini by having the e-awd system, which is undoubtedly superior to a hybrid system that just adds power to the crank.

Lamborghini Sian Roadster: a limited-edition, open-top hybrid Super Sports Car that encapsulates the spirit of Lamborghini.





Lamborghini’s Sian hybrid hypercar is the most powerful open-top production car in the world with its 808bhp output.





The Roadster takes the bulk of its power - 774bhp from an uprated version of the Aventador’s naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 and features a 34bhp 48V electric motor integrated into the gearbox for zero-emission low-speed manoeuvres.





It can clock 0-100 kmph in just 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 350 kmph. Only 19 units of the Lamborghini Sian Convertible will be manufactured.

Outrageous looks, huge performance, a surreal pricetag – and all sold out

The 48V electric element may win attention, but the 6.5-litre V12 remains the headline act. This is basically the same engine that powers the mighty Aventador SVJ but with a slight boost in output, taking peak power to a claimed 774bhp at 8500rpm – the highest yet for a road-going Lamborghini.

Performance is predictably huge. Slight electrical help can be detected in higher gears and at lower revs, but giving the V12 its head removes any sense of the motor assisting.

Dynamically, the Sián feels like a rawer car than the Aventador, but (on the admittedly limited basis of this first impression) not a better one, certainly when compared with the impressively focused SVJ.

The Sián’s price is ridiculous, its styling outrageous is and its underpinnings are pensionable by supercar standards – yet its appeal is unarguable.

Just realised my housemate has a Lego Technic version of the Sian, complete with fully working steering, suspension, and automatic flappy paddle gearbox (the latter is a treat to see working as you click through the gears). Oh and it has a nifty little suitcase too for the frunk. That being said I have to say the Sian isn't one of my personal favourites from recent Lambo's in terms of looks. But I will admit it meets their quintessential more is more design mantra
