Next-gen Volkswagen Tiguan to have a radical coupe-like design

Volkswagen is planning its next generation of Tiguan with radical coupe- like looks instead of the current boxy design.

Just chanced to see and drive behind a Tiguan this evening, to describe it: It looks as exciting as a "katori of curd". Looked like a car at least 10 years old.

Wow! I was not aware that VW managed to move so many Tiguans. When I saw one in person, it almost depressed me. It looked as appealing as a male nurse wearing a scrub.
They have certainly tried to give it some shape with this new one.

I likes! Although given VW India's state, they will try and bring it in as a CBU at 50L ex-showroom rather than invest any more in India.

Whatever happened to being understated and classy. I feel there is no better car in a price range of the Tiguan for a small family who wants to buy a vehicle, not truck read Endy. And I just love the look of the Tiguan. Straight lines, No nonsense curves, perfect proportions - It just oozes class.

Appreciate your viewpoint but IMHO, the Tiguan is too understated. It has almost no road presence at all. Keeping that in mind - and competition from the very popular Skoda Kodiaq - I agree that VW needs to do something "different" to stand out.

I'm not a fan of coupe-like crossovers, but will say that the Tiguan needs this differentiator

VW will bring the Tiguan Coupe too for the Chinese Market. Now spotted testing.

Likely to be the Tiguan X.

Tiguan X in China:

The base was a Tiguan L with a longer wheelbase (2791 mm), while SAIC-VW will take care of production in China.

The Tiguan X is 4764 mm long, 1859 mm wide and 1628 mm high.

Sales will start later this year (with 2.0 TSI petrols in 184hp and 220hp versions), and as things stand now, the Tiguan X will most likely not be sold in Europe.
