In an ACI interview with Zac Hollis, he does mention about the Octavia being planned to be released in India "as soon as possible".

"As soon as possible. As soon as the car is available in Europe. Plan of the moment is to bring the new Octavia". Hopefully, that means the new car will be available early next year. Skoda is participating in the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo - so maybe we can hope for an unveil there?

Launching on Nov 11th, the next-gen Octavia will likely continue to be offered in two body styles, saloon and estate, as well as in performance RS and Scout derivatives

Slotting between the compact Scala and mid-size Superb, the 2020 Octavia is based on an updated version of the MQB platform, which is also used by the new Volkswagen Golf Mk8, itself due to be revealed on October 24. The architecture’s versatile construction will allow the use of numerous powertrains beyond the usual 1.0-liter three-pot and 1.5-liter four-pot turbo’d petrol and 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter diesel units, including mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. All-wheel drive will be available in higher-end models.

Skoda Octavia will be unveiled after Volkswagen GOLF, premiered at a special event, somewhere in the Czech Republic.

Both body variants, the estate and the liftback are to be revealed.

However, the car will not appear on the market until the first half of next year.

Dealers will be the first to see a station wagon, a liftback will follow with a delay of several weeks. Globally, the majority of sales are Octavia Combi, and this time it will turn first.

Mass production of the new Octavia will start in the 48th calendar week of this year , the last month of November (since 25 November). However, we are talking about estate production, liftback will follow in the 10th calendar week 2020 (from 2 March).

Will have lots of design elements from Skoda Scala.

The bow will be shaped like a smaller Scala, mainly in terms of almost perpendicular radiator grille , which, however, will be bounded by a solid frame. However, the shapes of the headlamps will be different so that both models are sufficiently different. The new Octavia will no longer have split headlamps like the current ones , but will receive split diode strips to continue to act as a "four-lens" in the dark.

The side silhouette, on the other hand, will be very similar to today's Octavia, especially in terms of side glazing. The stern should then be sharply cut, with the tail lights penetrating deep into the fifth door , again shaped to be inspired by Scala.

The steering wheel will be atypically double-spoke , inspired by the Vision X concept. It will be positioned above the air vents, with a horizontal row of buttons for selected functions between the two elements, as well as a handy touch screen shelf.

Engines:

The offer of petrol units will thus consist of the three-cylinder 1.0 TSI and the four-cylinder 1.5 TSI and 2.0 TSI

On the turbodiesel side, on the other hand, we will only see the four-cylinder 2.0 TDI , which will be available in weaker versions as a replacement for the existing 1.6 TDI

A plug-in hybrid will also arrive

The four-cylinder 1.5 TSI G-Tec compressed natural gas (CNG) will also be used for alternative drives .

at least for an additional fee there will be a virtual cockpit, a digital instrument shield. The use of electronic parking brake instead of manual mechanical can also be seen from spy interior photos.

With regard to Scala, we expect LED headlamps as standard or modern digital services thanks to the Internet connection via a SIM card. Nearly certain is the wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto , the possibility of updating the multimedia system over the Internet or voice assistant Laura

New Octavia will be evolutionary in design, while new styling can be expected in models from 2021.

The fourth generation Octavia will have a more elegant and stylish bodywork, the trunk cover will have a sharp edge, something in the Audi A4 style, and the Skoda logo will be written on it just like La Scala. Then, in the front, as at the scale, the thinner headlights extend to the new radiator grille.

The dimensions of the gauge will not change much, but the new Skoda Octavia will be slightly longer (4.70 meters instead of 4.67 meters) and the volume of the trunk will increase by about 20 liters to the Combi and limousine (currently it varies between 610 and 1,740 liters at the Combi and in E 590 and 1,580 liters in limousine). The wheelbase is expected to remain around 2.68 meters, as is the future of the VW Golf Variant.

Conventional Engines:

From the range of petrol engines will not Miss 1.0 Turbo in three-cylinder 116 HP and 1.5 Turbo in 4 cylinders and partially disable the cylinders with 150 HP. The diesel range will comprise 1.6 liters with 115 HP and 2.0 liters with 150 and 184 HP.

Hybrids:

There will be a mild hybrid on the 1.5 litre engine which will also have a 48V network and comes with an electric motor of about 10 kW and 55 Nm that will support the thermal engine at the accelerations. Then, from Superb facelift will be taken over the new Hybrid Plug-In at which the 1.4 litre turbo engine and 156 HP will be coupled with an electric motor of 116 CP/330 Nm, both providing a total of 218 HP and 400 Nm.

The program will not Miss Octavia RS, but at this point it is unclear what engine it will have. Some sources speak of 2 liters Turbo with 250 HP, and others of an electrified powertrain with mild-hybrid system.

NO Electric:

A Skoda Octavia electric will not exist because Skoda will launch electric models with stand-alone bodywork, and in this segment will come Vision iV, a coupé with four full electric doors built on the MEB platform from VW.

Very nice looking design- the one in the sketch (the red one; post #43). Wish they use the same, albeit with the alloys in post#32- they’re drop dead gorgeous! The dashboard seems to be rather modern, if a bit too cluttered. Can’t say without a better picture. Skoda has to just get the pricing right and they have a winner. P.S- the article says “..existing 1.6 TDi..”. Don’t tell me the international Octavia is being sold in a 1.6 guise too!

Yes it is and I had one for 3 years! It does its job really well.
