Rocky/Rise is being developed by Toyota! [Daihatsu certification fraud problem]

Quote:
for small cars, Toyota will be responsible for confirming everything from development to certification, and will outsource it to Daihatsu (as in the case of mini cars).
Press release:

Quote:
Due to the limitations of Daihatsu's resources and knowledge, and from the perspective of thoroughly preventing recurrence, we will gradually change the model from the future to a model in which Toyota is responsible for everything from development to certification, and Daihatsu is entrusted with the actual development of small cars
Quote:
According to the announcement release, the Emerging Markets Small Car Company (ECC), which had previously served as a bridge between Toyota and Daihatsu, has been dissolved, and from May 2024, the reporting line for "functions from development to certification" will be changed to Toyota's "Toyota Compact Car Company."

The company will also change the management and optimization of resources related to business and product planning to a system in which Toyota is responsible.

In addition, while making reservations about "in the future," he said, "I would like to take on the challenge of BEVs for mini vehicles."
