Images of the next-generation Honda Jazz Type R have leaked online. The hatchback is reported to debut at the 2020 Tokyo Motor Show.
According to the leaked images, the Type R is likely to feature a trapezoidal grille with a chrome bar. It has sweptback headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights. The car gets a dual-tone bumper with round fog lamps and red accents, a red Honda badge and Type R logo on the grille. It has front and rear quarter glass and blacked-out B pillar. The ORVMs are finished in black and it also has a black rear spoiler, side skirts and 5-spoke alloy wheels shod with low profile tyres.
The Jazz Type R is expected to get a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 217 BHP and 245 Nm of torque. The standard Jazz is also likely to get a
hybrid powertrain.
The next-generation Jazz is expected to go on sale in the international market sometime next year. However, there is no word yet on whether it will be offered in India.

217 BHP from a 1.5 is seriously impressive.
That's almost superbike territory.
Reckon it will be a very high revving engine as well.
The above engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with Short Gear Ratios and a Short Shifter would be a killer package. The engine options and the CVT which exist in Honda's Indian line-up seem to be inclined towards the people's carrier/family sedan market.
Seriously impressive numbers but I wouldn't want to be seen dead in itrl:
How does Honda manage to get every new generation of their cars worse looking than the previous one?
Cheers!

It isn't a high revving naturally aspirated V-Tec, it's a boosted verion of their 1.5 VTec turbo that does duty in the Civic sold internationally and produces 174 horses.

True! On one side - these numbers are mind-blowing for a small hatch! Is enough to overthrow the mighty Fiesta ST, at least on paper, with the Ford producing (only!) 200PS from its 1.5L Ecoboost engine.
On the other side - they made it look even more of a mini- van than ever!

I will expect a 1.2 in India for obvious reasons.
I hope the 1.2 is 'souped up' with Turbo charging. I will seriously consider it in April 2020 when BS-VI kicks in. I need to replace my Brio.
The new Civic with the old engine left me cold.
