Next-gen Porsche Macan to be all-electric

The next generation Porsche Macan will be fully electric. It will be Porsche's first all-electric SUV and is expected to go into production at the start of the next decade.

Like the Taycan, the next generation Macan will be based on the Porsche PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture developed in collaboration with Audi and it could feature an 800-volt electric drive technology. The new Macan will be built at Porsche's Leipzig facility.

The company plans to invest 6 billion euros in electric mobility by 2022 and by 2025, 50% of all new Porsche vehicles could have an electric drive system. Over the next 10 years, Porsche plans to shift its focus on petrol and plug-in hybrid models along with purely electric sports cars.

In February 2018, the company had announced that it would no longer produce diesel powered cars due to change in customer preferences and stricter emission norms.

Wow, Porsche is really taking a deep dive into electrics. The other smaller brand is Volvo.

Tall claim and I doubt it, if they mean 50% of sales. On the other hand, if they meant 50% of their model range, its doable.

Electric drive system or most companies call it "electrified" means those include plug-in hybrids as well.

But 50% all-electric sales also easily doable by 2025 (7 years away), as Porsche is releasing 3 all-electric models (Taycan, Taycan Cross Turismo and Macan) over next 2-3 years itself starting this year with Taycan.

I strongly believe all these road maps will continuously revised upwards over next 2-3 years with more and more models converted to all-electric.

Re: Next-gen Porsche Macan to be all-electric

It is encouraging to see top end car makers such as Porsche & Volvo push the electric agenda. Change that starts from the top end of a market finds its way to the lower ends faster because that change is seen as hip, high status etc.

Porsche Macan EV Production to Start in late 2022.

Quote:
here’s no question that Porsche isn’t shy about moving to the electric world. Barring small operations such as Rimac, Porsche seems more aggressive than all others in the supercar realm then it comes to embracing EV power. We’ve known for a while that the Macan will go fully electric, but a new report from Automobilwoche gives us insight into a timeframe.
The report cites Porsche Executive Board Member for Development Michael Steiner, who allegedly said production for the electric Macan is expected to begin at the end of 2022. It should be emphasized that this timeframe is for the start of production, meaning the SUV will likely debut several months if not a year or more ahead of that.
we’ve heard very credible rumors originating from Porsche executives that point to as much as 700 horsepower (525 kilowatts) in a Turbo S variant. Obviously it won’t actually have a turbocharger – like the Taycan it will follow Porsche’s familiar naming structure for trim levels. That means there will be a standard Turbo and other submodels to spruce up the Macan EV lineup.
he next-generation Macan will launch as a 2023 model, and it will arrive alongside a new electric crossover from Audi, perhaps the Q4 e-tron.
Rumors also suggest the Macan will go entirely electric starting in 2024.

Macan Electric to feature a similar front fascia to the Taycan, as previewed by our exclusive renderings earlier this year. At the back, there will be a sloped roof and an adjustable spoiler. Oh, and don’t let these fake exhaust pipes integrated into the rear bumper fool you - this is definitely not an ICE-powered test car.

Porsche Macan EV will arrive in 2023 with more range than Taycan

It'll be built on a new electric platform with a similar 800-volt architecture as the Taycan electric sedan, but it will have significantly more range, Porsche claims.

The electric and gas-powered models will be differentiated by design, similar to the Taycan and Panamera.

Over the course of the next 2 years, the cars will covered around 3 million kms in varying conditions. Prior to this, the development work was being carried out using virtual simulations to test the car's aerodynamics, energy management, operation and acoustics.

The Macan EV will be the first model to be based on Porsche's PPE electric vehicle architecture. The company aims to create the sportiest electric SUVs in its segment.

Re: Next-gen Porsche Macan to be all-electric

2024 Porsche Macan Electric technical details revealed; 603 BHP & a frunk!

Porsche are recently said to have unveiled technical details of its upcoming all-electric Macan EV. The new model has been undergoing tests for a while now, with production expected to begin sometime in 2024.

Next-gen Porsche Macan to be all-electric-porschemacanev.jpg

Ahead of its official debut, the German supercar brand has unveiled a few details. As per reports, the Macan Electric will be built on the brand's new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) 800-volt architecture. This is similar to that of the Taycan, however, Porsche has made a few tweaks that, they say, enables better handling, along with offering improved performance and range.

Reports state that the Porsche Macan Electric will feature a 100 kWh battery pack, which is capable of charging from 5 - 80% in just 25 minutes. The battery pack is paired with a dual-motor setup, one on each axle producing around 600 BHP and 1000 Nm, with most of the power being delivered to the rear wheels under normal driving conditions. Porsche is yet to unveil the range of the Macan Electric, although it is said to be higher than that of the Taycan, which offers 250 miles (402 km) on the EPA cycle.

The Porsche Macan EV will also come with rear-wheel steering & dynamic air suspension, both of which should help offer a more nimble and supple ride quality. The SUV is also expected to come with a front boot (Frunk). However, reports suggest that while the Macan EV will get regenerative braking, Porsche will not offer it with 'One-pedal driving'.

Re: Next-gen Porsche Macan to be all-electric

This model will be the game changer for Porsche. Already the Taycan has tasted success but now an electric version of their already wildly popular SUVs will break the bank!

Porsche Macan EV interiors spied ahead of unveil

Porsche has been working on introducing the Macan EV for quite some time now. Spy images of the Porsche Macan EV undergoing testing have been released on multiple occasions. However, the latest spy shots of the electric Macan give us a clear glimpse of the SUV's interiors.

Next-gen Porsche Macan to be all-electric-porschemacanevinteriors1.jpg

As seen from the spy images, the Porsche Macan EV comes with three displays - a digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment unit on the centre console and a separate screen for the front passenger. There also seems to be a small rectangular screen behind the steering wheel. While the image doesn't showcase what the small screen displays, reports suggest that it could provide information like the car's state of charge or other notifications for the driver assistance functions.

Next-gen Porsche Macan to be all-electric-porschemacanevinteriors2.jpg

Another image also reveals the dashboard on the Macan EV. It shows the analogue clock offered as part of the Chrono Package by Porsche, while also showcasing how the dash wraps around the digital instrument cluster.

Porsche had previously announced details of the powertrain on the Macan Electric. The SUV is said to come with a 100 kWh battery pack paired with two electric motors (one on each axle), producing around 600 BHP and 1000 Nm. The battery pack is said to offer 402 km of range on a single charge, as per the EPA cycle. It also comes with fast-charging capabilities allowing for 5 - 80% charge in just 25 mins.

Porsche is said to begin production of the Macan EV sometime in 2024.
