Ford announced the new Territory

• New Ford Territory midsize SUV, developed with JMC, offers attractive price, great looks and a host of intuitive technologies
  
• A new SUV aimed at China’s fastest-growing segment – SUV buyers in emerging, fast-growing cities
  
• Territory is available with fuel-efficient gasoline engine, 48V mild hybrid, or plug-in hybrid, and infotainment system with intuitive Mandarin voice-command function, Co-Pilot360TM suite of driver assistance technologies and FordPass Connect with embedded modem
  
• Territory will go on sale in early 2019. Ford is also launching new versions of the popular Focus and Escort cars in the coming months as it delivers on its plan to bring 50 new vehicles to market by 2025

The first thing that came to my mind was "Is this an Ecosport on steroids?"

The second thing on my mind was how will the chinese pronounce it?

This will be fun!

Note this is not totally Ford's creation so unless it gets IP rights sorted out, it might not come here. It has potential considering the Creta, the impending T-Cross, etc.

A bit of research on the internet reveals that Territory is Ford's comeback product to its sluggish sales performance in China, given the strong product line-up / frequently refreshed offerings from local players with great infotainment systems that the Chinese love. Only time will tell if this product revamps Ford's sales numbers in the world's largest auto market.

Nice looking big brother of the Ecosport. I especially liked the interiors. If it comes to India, has a good potential to compete against the likes of Creta and Duster. And I guess this is also the first Ford SUV which doesn't have it's name starting from the letter E

Ford Flex, Ford Kuga. A BHPian from the middle-east had shared snaps of his Flex in a thread.

Unrelated but the Kuga is sold in the Chinese market.

So they took the Ford Territory brand which was home grown in Australia, killed it in its home market, and now launch a smaller version SUV with the same name for the Chinese market?

Not sure if that picture and the shade, but the Territory looks more like an Acura than a Ford there.

Looks pretty good. This is what the EcoSport in India would look like had the silly 4m rule not been in place. Not as fancy inside but close.

Nah, I doubt. One of them would probably work, the EcoSport or this, not both. Price played/plays a big role in keeping the EcoSport ticking so Ford would rather prefer it.

Really can't say that it won't work IMO. No one predicted the small SUVs to sell as much as it is. The Creta and Duster and this Territory (if it comes) will be competing in the 4+ metre segment (INR 15L-20L)while Ecosport will be competing with Brezza, Nexon and WRV in the sub 4m segment(~ INR 10L-15L)

Oh God, that first pics is so not flattering! Quite a poor angle, making the car look imbalanced. The rear seems to have taken a fair bit of inspiration from the Evoque.

Ford Territory to launch in Brazil, influenced by dealers.

the network would have insisted on bringing the model to our market, after drawing attention in the Salão de São Paulo 2018. Currently only with EcoSport, which is a project of 2012 and expensive Edge, Ford would have a modern option in its lineup

Ford has just given the Territory SUV a minor facelift in China. The SUV now gets a new front grille and the tail lights have been slightly tweaked as well. It also comes equipped with the Tencent TAI car intelligent system which can support voice recognition, vehicle WeChat and other functions.

This is my first post on Team-bhp and what makes it all the more special is that I am commenting on a Ford Thread.

Ford Territory with this minor facelift looks really good. This can prospectively be a very good replacement of Ford Ecosport in India. Considering the fact that Ford and Mahindra have joined hands in developing future products for Indian market, I strongly feel Ford should launch at least 3 SUVs from its global lineup between 10 lacs to 22 lacs ex-showroom in India. There are several Ford fans who would happily upgrade from their existing Ecosport to perhaps a slightly bigger SUV. I fail to understand as to why Ford is so hesitant in bringing more cars to Indian market.

I hope the dealers network in India too start pushing Ford to increase its product portfolio. They have some potential winners for Indian market in their global lineup.
