Ford EcoSport Storm AWD leaked

Only a day after Ford teased the image of the Ecosport Storm edition in the Brazilian market, spy images of the model have surfaced online.

The images reveal a "Raptor" styled grill, Storm badging and a matte black finish all around, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

EcoSport Storm will come with four-wheel-drive coupled to the 2.0-litre Direct Flex engine that produces different outputs based on the fuel used. It makes 170hp and 202Nm of torque on petrol, and 176hp and 221Nm of peak torque on ethanol. The motor is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

No news on an India launch yet. Ford EcoSport Storm AWD leaked-imageuploadedbyteambhp1516089275.226666.jpgFord EcoSport Storm AWD leaked-imageuploadedbyteambhp1516089288.463998.jpgFord EcoSport Storm AWD leaked-imageuploadedbyteambhp1516089301.255032.jpg

India may get a watered down, cosmetic, stickered version

Might just make it to Indian shores, but only with the cosmetic changes. The Direct Flex engine is unlikely to be launched here, especially after Ford has put its money in the Dragon series of engines.

Oh my - stonking petrol AT with 4x4 and those looks. I really hope this gets launched in India. I would buy it in a heartbeat. Even with the rubbish mileage I’m sure it would suffer from.

Re: Ford EcoSport Storm AWD leaked

Fat chance that this will see the light of day in our market, as much as I'd hate to say it.

EcoSport fans could take solace in the fact similar cosmetic parts will be available to the general public, to give it that 'Storm' look.

Or Ford may even launch a watered down Storm as Karan has suggested.

P.S. That sticker job is as bad as that ridiculous GT sticker I've seen on some of the factory Polo GT TSIs!

Re: Ford EcoSport Storm AWD leaked

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the excessive plastic unappealing? A 4x4 with such a powerful engine is capable enough- why spoil the look with the sticker? I guess this is the avatar in which the EcoSport will truly qualify to be a SUV. But at 20 lakh, it won't find takers in India. People get the XUV or Hexa for that money.

Re: Ford EcoSport Storm AWD leaked

Even if it is launched in India, it will be a lower powered version. The name will also be different as Tata may object to Storm as it's quite close to their Storme.

Re: Ford EcoSport Storm AWD leaked

I would say that the Ford Ecosport Storm AWD looks good & I hope that Ford launches it in India. AFAIK AWD would mean that the rear suspension would need to be upgraded from torsion beam to independent multi-link suspension. The current 2WD Ecosport has a very stiff ride (more so at the back) & I hope that with the independent multi-link suspension the ride quality would improve. The Ecosport AWD if launched in India could be a good Duster AWD competitor, the Ecosport does have good ground clearance, approach & departure angles.

Re: Ford EcoSport Storm AWD leaked

This looks good! However, apart from enthusiasts like us, I don't see a big market for this car in India.

However, I am sure we all will be seeing a lot of regular Ecosports on the road with similar aftermarket cosmetic parts.
