Ford suing John Cena for flipping his Ford GT supercar

Ford suing WWE superstar John Cena for flipping his 2017 Ford GT supercar. By buying and then quickly selling his $500,000-plus supercar, he violated an anti-flipping clause in the vehicle's purchase contract.
According to the lawsuit, Cena was contractually obligated by Ford to hold onto the vehicle for at least two years. Ford, which is only producing 250 of the supercars a year and carefully selected buyers out of an applicant pool of celebrities and Ford enthusiasts, alleges that Cena "unfairly made a large profit from the unauthorized resale flip of the vehicle, and Ford has suffered additional damages and losses, including, but not limited to, loss of brand value, ambassador activity and customer goodwill due to the improper sale."

Ford is demanding that Cena hands over all the profit from the sale, as well as other damages.

Cena reportedly apologised and admitted that he sold the vehicle to liquidate for cash to take care of expenses.

It is not clear how much profit Cena made from sale of the vehicle, but the suit does state that the amount "exceeds $75,000."Ford suing John Cena for flipping his Ford GT supercar-imageuploadedbyteambhp1512166931.471789.jpg

Re: Ford suing John Cena for flipping his Ford GT supercar

I dont know how suddenly he felt the need to meet his expenses. He bought it paying such a huge money and he could have approached Ford if he was in dire situation. Looks like he really wanted to gain some profit.

For a moment I though he actually physically flipped the car seeing the title. Then the first line which said he was in WWE confirmed it for a moment

Well, you can blame Ford for "not seeing it"

Jokes aside,

Ferrari has in the past initiated even more stringent rules against flipping, even inserting a first-buy-back clause for the 430.

Quote:
Customer hereby grants to Dealer, as a material consideration for the opportunity to purchase a 430, an option to repurchase the 430 at its market value (but in no event more than the original Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) at any time within two (2) years of the date of delivery of his/her 430, provided Customer decides to sell, lease or otherwise transfer possession the vehicle to a third-party during that period (the "Right of First Refusal").

Re: Ford suing John Cena for flipping his Ford GT supercar

Its sad to hear that John Cena could do such a thing for profit, specially after seeing what he preaches on WWE i.e. " HUSTLE LOYALTY RESPECT "

May be The Rock can help him out of this mess, as he is Ford's brand ambassador for Service;

On a side note he can always say that he sold the Ford GT coz he did not fit in it & wasnt able to find a proper driving position.

Re: Ford suing John Cena for flipping his Ford GT supercar

Well, there are two ways of looking at it.

One: It's his car and he can do whatever he pleases with it.

Two: He signed a contract at the time of buying the car.

I'm inclined on point two. He got the car in the first place only because he agreed to own it for a minimum of 2 years. It's an easy case in the American courts and he will for sure lose. What's more, he'll be blocked from limited edition models in the future (from Ford & others because of this incident).

Funny how John Cena says he had to meet expenses. The guy had his own car show with featured all the exotics in his garage and he had quite a few there.

Plus he seems to have a decent business sense as he endorses and even co-partners a lot of fitness based businesses. Gyms, Sports wear, supplements etc.
