Nearly a decade back in 2008, Top gear reviewed the Gumpert Apollo.
- Basically had a 4.2 Litre V8 taken from an Audi with a 5 valve per cylinder head and 2 huge turbos bolted. Came with a whole lot of power.
- Richard hammond barely scraped the limits of the traction that the aero aided bodywork produced.
- Decimated the lap record at top gear back then.
With German "function over form" philosophy in styling, there were not many fans of the looks of the car.
Well the company was keen to remove that last image from them when they previewed the Apollo Arrow concept which never saw the light of the day.
The company has changed hands from Roland Gumpert to Hong Kong businessman Norman Choi. The new team has taken the complaint on looks very seriously as they now present to the world the The
Apollo Intensa Emozione and we can safely say that people wont complain about the looks. Take a look at the beast.
Someone who complained that Mazda Furai had many slashes. Check this out.
The triplet exhaust is a 3D laser-printed item that costs, in Choi’s words, “more than a whole BMW M4”
You want to know who designed this air dam
and this Diffuser
and this massive rear wing. The chief aerodynamicist, who sorted all the downforce using computational fluid dynamics and zero wind tunnel time, is 23 year old

Some serious claims on aero as well. 1,350kg of claimed net downforce at 186mph.
See the engine hidden under the lovely carbon fibre body work which resembles torn up jeans.

They say it is a 6.3 Litre V12 which produces 769 bhp , nearly 750 Nm and revs all the way to 9000 rpm. Sounds suspiciously similar to another engine we all secretly crave to experience.
What i absolutely adored about the car are these bits.
Naked carbon fibre in all its glory
Lovely view of those pushrod suspension and oh so expensive exhaust system.
and what i absolutely hated.

But then those who can afford the Eur 2.3 Million car should be able to customize the interiors to their tastes i guess.
No one would find these on roads as they are not going to be road legal and are only suitable for track days.
The planned lot is only 10 cars, so chances are we are a bit late to dial them up and pre order these.
For those interested in numbers.
- 6.3 Litre Naturally aspirated V12
- 769 Bhp
- 750 Nm
- 9000 RPM redline
- 1250 Kg estimated
- 1350 Kg downforce at 186 mph
- 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds
- 208 mph top speed.
PS: Looks like Shmee seems to have had a private preview of the car. Looks smashing in the video.
