Volkswagen's Tharu revealed for China, a sibling to Skoda Karoq, and rival to Jeep's Compass!

Measuring 4,453mm (175.3in) in length, 1,841mm (72.5in) in width and 1,632mm (64.3in) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,688mm (105.8in), the VW Tharu is 71mm (2.8in) longer, 27mm (1.1in) taller and has a 50mm (2in) longer wheelbase than the Karoq, while sharing the same height.

Powering the compact SUV at launch will be two engines, including a 1.2-liter and a 1.4-liter, both of them turbocharged, making 116hp and 150hp, respectively. They will be available with a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission.

South American markets (and possible to come to India too) will see this C/SUV in 2019.

VW patents the Jeep Compass rival in Brazil, to launch in 2020.

After launching the T-Cross (compact SUV that will be presented in the coming months), Volkswagen will have as big launch in the segment of SUVs in Brazil Tarek.

The model will be produced in Argentina on the modular platform MQB and will reach Brazilian dealerships starting in 2020, with Jeep Compass as the main competitor.

The Tarek (launched in China as Tharu) measures 4,453 meters in length and 2,688 m in wheelbase. For the sake of comparison, the main rival, Jeep Compass, measures 4,416 m in length and 2,636 m in wheelbases - measures very close.

2021 Volkswagen Tarek Compact Crossover Coming To the U.S.

From Mexico to Canada, the compact crossover with Skoda Karoq underpinnings will slot under the Tiguan in the German automaker’s lineup.

In terms of size, the Tharu in China measures 175.3 inches in length and features a 105.5-inch wheelbase. By comparison, the Tiguan with the long wheelbase measures 185.1 and 109.8 inches, respectively

In the VW stable, this car looks the most SUVish(boxy) and hence launching this car as Jeep Compass rival in India will be successful. The name doesn't sound good, hope they change the name if they plan to launch it here.

With Politics redefining the fate of this SUV, now it is confirmed that the vehicle, known internally as Tarek, will enter production at 2020 and reach dealerships at the beginning of the following year.

It is confirmed that it will sell a modified version of the Chinese Tharu in the United States from 2021 onwards. This model was planned to be manufactured in Argentina, but is likely, now with the end of Mexico's import quotas, which is sold in Brazil imported from Mexico.

Volkswagen goes ahead with its launch of Tarek for Brazil: Will fill in the segment between T Cross and Tiguan.

SUV arriving at the end of the year will be a taller and wider Jetta

The Jeep Compass rival will derive directly from the sedan platform (MQB A matrix) , with whom it shares the wheelbase, and will rival Jeep Compass.

In addition, its dimensions are more compatible with those of Compass, against whom the Argentine SUV will arrive to fight (or at least to try to steal a part of the customers).

Tarek will be sold in Brazil with a 1.4 turbo flex engine with direct injection of 150 hp and 25.5 kgfm (250 TSI), allied to a six-speed automatic transmission and with front-wheel drive. Your weight should be around 1,400 kg.

It will also include treats like electronic parking brake and panoramic sunroof.

Volkswagen TAOS, details revealed:

- Volkswagen’s new compact SUV slots in lineup below Tiguan and electric ID.4 model ID.4

- New 1.5-liter EA211 designed to produce outstanding fuel economy and driving characteristics.

-High-tech features include variable geometry turbocharger,

a new version of the EA211 turbocharged four-cylinder engine that currently powers the Jetta sedan. Making 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, the new engine increases in size from 1.4 to 1.5 liters and offers a number of high-tech features designed to produce outstanding fuel economy.

Despite the engine having a larger displacement and being more powerful than the EA211 fitted in the Jetta, the engine is more efficient in fuel usage. It features Volkswagen’s modified version of the Miller cycle, where the intake valves are closed early in the induction stroke to help with fuel economy. For a turbocharged engine, it has a very high compression ratio of up to 11.5 to one.

The Taos is expected to go on sale in the summer of 2021 in both front- and all-wheel-drive forms. The vehicle is positioned in the largest U.S. vehicle segment, the compact SUV market.

VW TAOS revealed for the US Market, rivals on Jeep Compass, and will arrive in dealerships in the summer of 2021.

Taos expands the reach of VW's crossover lineup. At the moment, the company's entry level high-rider, the Tiguan, starts at nearly $25,000. The smaller Taos should drive that number down, perhaps below the last Golf's $23,195 price. This crossover should be a win for consumers, even if it lacks the compact-hatchback charm of the Golf.

Like the Golf, Tiguan, and Jetta, the Taos relies on a standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new 1.5-liter unit packs 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque .

The Taos' turbocharged engine works alongside one of two gearboxes, depending on where the power goes. Front-drive models feature an eight-speed automatic, while the 4Motion all-wheel drive partners with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Fuel economy figures aren't available yet, although the 1.5-liter's total output is similar to the Jetta's turbocharged 1.4-liter – we don't expect a big change from that model's EPA fuel economy ratings of 30 miles per gallon city, 40 highway, and 34 combined.
