re: The 2018 Honda City Facelift

Oh god, another City facelift and i expect more price hikes for every feature added -_-

And even then, I don't expect any of these autonomous driving and safety features to make it to india. Even the germans don't offer the adaptive cruise in india.

On the other hand, I believe Honda could be on to something if they can launch a Hybrid city in india. Clearly customers are ready to pay a crazy 14 lacs for the city ZX, they would be interested in hybrids for a few lacs more, especially in a market like NCR where petrol is making a major comeback(just look at the delhi Bhpians in the whatcar? Section). Even if the drivetrain is imported straight off japan (probably not even all of it, since the 1.5 i vtec is most likely same), a price difference of 1-2 lacs could be justified.

If honda is reading this, definitely not asking you to foolishly import Hybrids and sell them at twice their worth!! We all know how that goes(remember the Civic? If not, just wait what happens to the Accord)

I am thinking the other way. The facelift launched in India is being launched in Japan with additional features. I doubt if the safety features and engines will make to India in this generation of City.

re: The 2018 Honda City Facelift

Where is the facelift? This looks every bit like the current Indian City. Perhaps they will launch this in Japan only in 2018.

So many extra features on the Japanese spec car, along with the hybrid powertrain They seem to have even managed to fit that wretched front bumper properly. How can Honda's Indian management sleep peacefully at night knowing how badly they are short charging their own countrymen?

Honda City Facelift to launch in Mexico on May 31st and then Brazil in 2018.

Quote:
Are withheld the details of the range of versions, but it is almost certain that the Mexicans will have the updated version 1.5 i-VTEC engine with direct injection. With 130 horsepower, the propellant to date is now available for the Argentines in the newly launched Honda Fit 2017

The centre console is wow! I wonder why that didn't make it to the Indian certain.

Looks very good. I personally may be interested since our son does over 15,000km a year and his City AVN has done over 55,000km.

Re: The 2018 Honda City Facelift

Honda Grace/City facelift for Japan launched,

The 2018 Honda City Facelift-6.jpg

The refreshed Grace is a revised grille design, flanked (on certain models) by LED headlights, and capped by new bumpers front and rear. Inside the seats have been reskinned, and the interior lighting replaced with LEDs. There are new smartphone connectivity features, and the latest enhancements to the Honda Sensing suite of safety systems.

[quote]the Grace has received a fairly significant remodelling, including redesigned headlights – now LED units on the top Hybrid LX and EX models – with a different shape. The chrome bar, which now extends over the headlights Civic-style, is also slimmer than before, while the grille features a honeycomb mesh and a chrome strip. The front bumper has also been given a more elegant design.

At the rear, there’s a sportier rear bumper design and a ducktail spoiler with an integrated LED third brake light. Finishing it off are new 16 inch two-tone alloy wheels on the Hybrid EX, as well as new Lunar Silver and Brilliant Sporty Blue paint option[/QUOTE

Quote:
Inside, changes are limited to new upholstery options and LED map and room lights, along with a revised, more convenient InterNavi navigation system option with Apple CarPlay compatibility. As with the recently-facelifted Fit, the Grace is also now available with the Honda Sensing suite of driver assists.

These include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), autonomous Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Road Departure Warning (RDW) and Mitigation (RDM), false start suppression, traffic sign detection, auto high beam and a vehicle start warning to alert drivers when the vehicle in front is leaving from a traffic light stop.
Quote:
The range consists of petrol and Hybrid variants, with the former getting a 1.5 litre direct-injected DOHC i-VTEC engine pushes out 132 PS at 6,600 rpm and 155 Nm at 4,600 rpm, sent through an Earth Dreams CVT. Fuel consumption is rated at 22.0 km per litre on the Japanese JC08 combined cycle.
Quote:
Quote:
The Hybrid model mates a 110 PS/134 Nm 1.5 litre petrol mill with a 30 PS/160 Nm electric motor integrated into a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, along with a lithium-ion battery. The result is 137 PS and 170 Nm, as well as a fuel consumption figure of 34.8 km per litre – up from 34.4 km per litre

Re: The 2018 Honda City Facelift

Honda City Hybrid Malaysian brochure leaked – same 1.5L i-DCD package as Jazz Hybrid, launching soon.

The sedan gets a shark fin antenna, chrome door handles, auto folding wing mirrors, rear air con vents, steering paddle shifters and a rear armrest with cupholders. All the above are not offered with the Jazz Hybrid, as are remote trunk release and rear USB ports.

Like the Jazz Hybrid, the City Hybrid won’t be the range-topping variant, but it will be specced close to the City E. It lacks the City V’s LED headlamps and foglamps, leather seats/steering/gear knob and curtain airbags.

Quote:
It looks like the Honda City Hybrid – known as the Grace Hybrid in Japan, where the facelifted model was launched earlier this month – will share the same hybrid powertrain as the Jazz Hybrid. That means a Sport Hybrid i-DCD system that combines a 1.5 litre engine with idle stop, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with an integrated electric motor, a lithium-ion hybrid battery and an electric driven compressor.

The engine used here isn’t the one found in the regular City, but a unique Atkinson cycle DOHC i-VTEC unit with 110 PS and 134 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Combined with a 30 PS (22 kW)/160 Nm electric motor, the system produces a combined 137 PS and 170 Nm of torque, as per the Jazz Hybrid.
Quote:
Honda claims that the Sport Hybrid i-DCD (Intelligent Dual-Clutch Drive) system delivers performance equal to that of a conventional 1.8 litre naturally-aspirated engine (the Civic 1.8 makes just 4 PS/4 Nm more), with much lower fuel consumption. The claimed official figures are 4.0 litres per 100 km for the Jazz Hybrid and 3.9 litres per 100 km for the City Hybrid.

For an in-depth look at the Sport Hybrid i-DCD system, and how it differs from Honda’s previous Integrated Motor Assist hybrid system, click here.

The City’s sedan body with a 536-litre boot aside (no reduced capacity for the hybrid), technical differences from the Jazz Hybrid include 16-inch wheels with 185/55 tyres (175/65 R15 on the Jazz) and a larger turning radius of 5.7 metres (versus 5.26m).

Re: The 2018 Honda City Facelift

2018 is the year when all new honda city should be launched going by history, not a facelifted version.

Honda launches new city every five years.
1998
2003
2008
2013

Going by this story, does it mean we won't get the new city in 2018 and Honda will break the pattern.

City is the bread and butter model for Honda in India , they will have to launch it ASAP , from one end Ciaz is giving it tough competition and launch of Next Gen Verna would definitely take away sales of City Diesel.

Re: The 2018 Honda City Facelift

What is Honda up-to with the City? Recently spied in EUROPE packed with sensors and on extensive tests.

Quote:
Based on the various sensors' locations, the tech under development here appears to be related to the powertrain. An exhaust pokes out the rear, but it's possible that this could be a hybrid, given Honda's current focus on electrification. The photos only show one side of the vehicle, so there's no way to know about whether a plug-in socket is on board.
.. Motor1

Quote:
there's a possibility that we're dealing with a completely different car. The upmarket move made by the Civic might have left a gap for an affordable, somewhat basic sedan in Honda's European range, a sort of Skoda Rapid or Peugeot 301 rival.

Thankfully, the early stage of the prototype's development suggests Honda has more than a year to spill the beans on this project

@karanraheja, add Yaris to the list now. Friends, is there any news of next generation Honda City launch this year or early next year?

Re: The 2018 Honda City Facelift

I see they've finally thought of launching that sporty looking gear lever in all models. I noticed it in the current gen City in the uber cabs in Singapore. A Bhp'ian then confirmed that it comes on the hybrid models which aren't launched in India. Nifty lil shifter that!
