The 2017 Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet

Mercedes-Benz has released a teaser image of the 2017 E-Class Cabriolet, which is scheduled to be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. This unveil will complete the new-gen E-Class series, as the German automaker had revealed the sedan, coupe and estate models last year.

The E-Class Cabriolet will be a four-seat convertible, which will be borrowing most of its design cues from its coupe sibling, except for a foldable soft top. It is also likely to come with some added features.

The 2017 E-Class Cabriolet is expected to be unveiled with 3 variants: E 220d, E 300 and a top-end E 400. The entry-level E 220d will likely be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel unit, the E 300 is expected to get a 2.0-litre petrol, while the range-topping E 400 will likely be equipped with a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. All these variants will be offered with Mercedes' 9G-tronic gearbox.

In addition to the E-Class Cabriolet, Mercedes will also be showcasing 33 other models at the upcoming motor show, including the Mercedes-Maybach G-Class, new GLA and special edition models of the Mercedes-Benz SL and SLC roadsters.

re: The 2017 Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet

Mercedes Benz has officially unveiled the car ahead of its world debut at the Geneva International Motor Show.

The four seater convertible is the fifth addition to the E-Class series which was renewed last year. The E-Class Cabriolet shares a lot of design cues with the E-Class coupe, except for a fabric soft top roof. It has a lower placed front grille along with LED headlamps. The tail-lamps are also LEDs and the parking brake lamp has been integrated into a frame that covers the soft top compartment. The soft top can be fully opened and closed in 20 seconds at a speed of up to 50 km/h.

The interiors are again very similar to the E-Class coupe. Two 12.3 inch screens (for the infotainment unit and instrument cluster display) are available as an option. The steering wheel has touch control buttons, which control the instrument cluster as well as the infotainment screen. The car also gets a touchpad with a controller on the centre console, which supports handwriting recognition. The Cabriolet has a boot capacity of 385 litres when the roof is closed, and 310 litres when the roof is open.

In terms of safety, the E-Class Cabriolet is equipped with dual airbags, a knee airbag, thorax/pelvis bags for the driver and front passenger, and optional curtain airbags at the front and rear. It also has a roll-over protection system which is specifically developed for the convertible design.

The E-Class Cabriolet will most likely be offered with the same engine options as the E-Class coupe. Which means that it will get one diesel and 3 petrol engines with power ranging from 181 BHP to 328 BHP. All these models will be mated to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.

Re: The 2017 Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet

The C cab looks stubby, and the S can seem ostentatious. This right here is the full fat Mercedes package, especially stunning in warmer colors like this:
