Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

I doubt if the split headlight will reach india - the wagon R in india is positioned in a much more price sensitive segment, and I am sure that the maruti india design centre will cost optimize the design to the last rupee, and make it a lot more vanilla to make it appeal to the mainstream market.

In fact i would be very surprised if the indian design resembles any of these designs

This is a fantastic feature. Why does Maruti always shortchange us Indians? Even India has good number of elderly people traveling. My father feels difficulty in getting out of WagonR at times. This would be superb for him.

This swivel feature was there even in the Japanese equivalent of M800.

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

I am in love with how this Wagon R looks. Its very difficult to make a box look better, but Suzuki designers have done a good job.

Whenever it comes to India, we can expect it to miss some features.
Sliding seats is something which Maruti wont bring it with ( This is based on what we saw with Ignis ).

I hope this one is a better car structurally.

I was told by someone that the new WagonR may come to India sooner than anticipated, maybe the next big launch post the new Swift. Any inside news on this?

You seem to be right.

From the images posted by Rushlane, the car seems to be ready for launch. These are the first undisguised images of the new Maruti WagonR. It also gets idling-stop feature.

Nothing to clap about! Looks to be the earlier generation WagonR internationally launched back in 2012.

From the white plates - I am guessing its a company car or possibly getting tested for engine / transmission components. Hope Maruti Suzuki is not seriously considering dumping older generation models in our market again.

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

I think the R06 engine is being worked upon for fine tuning for the domestic market.

There is nothing new in the above cars platform.

What's new is the engine. As per Wikipedia the R06 (658cc) is available in two states of tuning - 54Bhp NA and 64 Bhp Turbo.

For the release of the third-generation MR Wagon in 2011,[1] Suzuki introduced a brand-new 658 cc (40.2 cu in) inline-three petrol engine.[2] The new engine, known as the R06A,[3] was available in naturally-aspirated and turbocharged forms, which produced 54 and 64 hp (55 and 65 PS; 40 and 48 kW) respectively.[2] Introduced as a replacement to the K6A that had been in production since 1994, the R06A features four valves per cylinder (for a total of 12), dual overhead camshafts, with a bore and stroke of 64.0 and 68.2 mm (2.52 and 2.69 in) respectively.[4] The naturally-aspirated versions of the R06A feature variable valve timing (VVT) on both the intake and exhaust valves (the first Suzuki engine to do so), and VVT on the intake valves of the turbocharged models.[5]

For 2012, Suzuki added the naturally-aspirated version of the engine to the Alto's range, with R06A-equipped Altos being called the Alto Eco.[6] The Wagon R also received both forms of the R06A engine in 2012, to coincide with the release of the fifth-generation model.[5] In 2013, the R06A was used for the new Suzuki Spacia and the updated Suzuki Carry, and in 2014, it was used for the new Suzuki Hustler.[5][3] The Carry was the first vehicle to use the R06A engine in a rear-wheel-drive configuration, and had a slightly detuned 50 PS (49 hp; 37 kW) version of the engine.

So in all probability the engine is being fine tuned for replacing the ageing F8 engine.

The engine is used in the below models as per Wikipedia and is shared by Suzuki, Nissan and Mazda.

Naturally-aspirated R06A
2011–present: Nissan Moco (MG33S)
2011–present: Suzuki MR Wagon (MF33S)

I also did this check immediately after seeing the images this morning, but the design and features do not like as old as 2014 to me. Maruti Suzuki has started giving LED Tail lights from just a couple of years now. Moreover, there is some testing equipment attached to the car in the pictures, as evident from the hose pipes going along the windshield into the car from the front and what looks like a testing machine atop the dashboard in the centre from one of the pics showing the rear of the car. Maybe MSIL is using number plates from an earlier registered WagonR for testing this mule.

But, it surely looks like a fresh face for WagonR. On comparing it with the camouflaged test mule spotted recently, this is quite different. Let's see, when MSIL does launch the new WagonR, how does it look. I am eagerly waiting for the new WagonR and WagonR 7 seater as my future options.

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

According to market source new gen MS Wagon R will be launched during Sept-Oct 2018. It will be based on heartect platform and may not resemble latest Japanese models.

https://www.carblogindia.com/new-maruti-wagon-r-2018/

Wagon R needs major upgradation considering Hyundai is resurrecting Santro brand which will compete in the same segment, equipped with latest features.

I expect new Wagon R to be a little wider, with better bottom end torque retaining all the advantages of current generation.

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

Apparently, Maruti-Suzuki will introduce the new WagonR ("YCA") during Diwali 2018. To be offered with a 1.0L engine with both 5-speed MT and AMT options, the new WagonR will not be built on the Heartect platform to keep costs in check.

The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR-marutisuzukiwagonr.jpg

Quote:
Autocar India has learnt from component suppliers involved in the project that Maruti’s sales estimate for the new WagonR is 18,000 cars a month. The outgoing WagonR, which sold 1,68,644 units in FY2017-18 (or about 14,000 units a month), is presently India’s fifth best-selling car.
The India car will use a larger 1.0-litre engine. The engine will be offered with a five-speed manual gearbox and there will be an AMT automatic option as well. Interestingly, sources tell us that, to help keep costs in check, the new car will not be built on Suzuki’s new Heartect platform.
