The rear can be confused with front of a van. They keep ironing out creases with each upgrade.

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

On first look the Stingray in white looks like a miniature upmarket people-mover - looks like an expensive upmarket small van. I love the looks.

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

This is a smart looking Wagon R. I don't think maruti would change much except for rear end which is totally bland. Also stingray may not come soon to india. I wish new gen wagon R had sliding doors which comes in very handy in our urban scenarios.

There is such a long list of Minis with Suzuki which come with sliding doors ( Powered one's ), maybe cost is the factor which is keeping them away from our market.

Rear door design element is a copy from Toyota Alphard/Vellfire Luxury vans.

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

Everytime I see that rear end, my head spins.

I guess the Indian version would be entirely different from this Japanese counterpart.

The heads-up display looks sweet though!

If they could launch this with reworked front and rear end, it might actually work.

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

The interiors would remain the same, and the rear styling would definitely be changed for the Indian market. Except for the center mounted instrument panel, I like the interiors. Practical with tons of cubbyholes and storage places.

My brother and me would always jokingly call our 2009 WagonR, as a " mini Escalade ".

Seems that Suzuki has taken it literally while styling the present gen.

Wonder which front end styling they going to bring to India

Chevrolet Suburban??

GMC Yukon??

or Escalade??

Though the Indian WagonR will mostly get only the 1.0l K series 3 pot with 5MT and AMT, just hoping that they will bring SVHS with a new engine and plonk a CVT in it (both unlikely to happen).
Looking forward to replace our 7 year old WagonR with this as a local runabout.

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

HUD is the new cool! The 2017 Wagon R has got HUD with Navigation. A segment first. Also comes with a touch screen tablet like HU.

Below is a youtube video of the cool HUD feature in the 2017 Wagon R.

Added to it the Japanese specification Wagon R has got LED headlights, 14-inch alloys, push-button start, touchscreen infotainment system, heated front seats, among other features. If this goodies makes to the Indian Specification Wagon R, the prospective customers will be going crazy, for sure.

Knowing Maruti, we can expect the prices will be competitive. I have a feeling that this car is going to sell like hot cakes for years to come

+1 to volkman10 for sharing the cool pictures.

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

The only grouse I have, is that the tail-lights are placed way too low. While this setup helps in making the opening wide, it will severely limit the usefulness of those lamps in bumper to bumper traffic. It won't be visible to most car drivers.

Secondly, Maruti should hopefully get rid of the centrally mounted speedo console. History says that our market has never liked it , right from the Indica Vista, to the Etios twins.

Regards,
Shashi

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

Hmm, so they have placed the meters in the centre - like the Etios twins and Vista. Would be interesting to see, how people react to that. One of the many reasons people often cite for eliminating the Etios twins/Vista is the 'oddly placed meter console'.

Re: The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR

Got to see the WagonR in person at the Tokyo Motor Show

The front -- mixed reaction on the styling.
The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR-front.jpg

The side -- for sure not to my personal taste. Lacks symmetry
The next-gen 2017 Suzuki WagonR-side.jpg

The dash is nice, simple & functional. I like it

The passenger seat is elderly/disabled friendly and can swivel for easy access. A useful feature -- especially in Japan market where the aging population would find use of this.
