Volkswagen has started teasing it's all-new four door premium sedan, the Arteon, ahead of the car's March 2017 world premiere at the Geneva Auto Show.

The Arteon, touted to be the Passat CC's successor, will sit above the Passat in Volkswagen's lineup and will be their top-of-the-line offering. One of the first all-new models to come out from the VW stable after the dieselgate scandal, the Arteon is based on a stretched version of the MQB platform and combines aggressive coupe-like styling with classic Volkswagen design elements such as a large grille with horizontal slats which extends into the headlamps. The car will also feature frameless windows, and a top-hinged boot which will give access to 1700 liters of space with the rear seats folded down.

Engine options are likely to be a range of turbocharged 4-cylinder units, with the most potent petrol powertrain producing 276BHP. This will be coupled to an all-new 7-speed DSG transmission, in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive layouts. A 3.0L V6 hybrid petrol, producing an impressive 374BHP, could be introduced at a later date.

Only a VW can look good, even with camouflage. Their sedans are just so sweet-looking, from the Vento to the Passat. Every time I see a clean Jetta - especially with some subtle mods - I can't help but stop in my tracks to admire it.

I think VW should bring cars like the Arteon to India. Both the Passats sold here have bombed, thanks to the superb Superb. If VW can't compete with it on product, let it do so on style.

Arteon sketch looks really really good, Suddenly mid-luxury car segment will get heated up for sure if it comes to India.

Volkswagen is in the final steps of development for the Arteon, a MY2018 vehicle that will be a four-door coupe.



Likely to get a SEAT model too. Skoda is engaged in SUV's as the next line of products.

The new Arteon will be built on the MQB modular solution, which will lower development costs without offering a platform that is not competitive

With the SEAT version of the Volkswagen Arteon, the Spanish brand would have a fighting chance in the mid-size segment thanks to a modern and competitive platform. However, the Volkswagen Group would have to devise a way to make the two models successful without risking cannibalization, which is a tricky thing to do when selling two coupe-styled four-door sedans at a similar price.

The gorgeous VW's flagship sedan ARTEON revealed, will rival BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe and Audi A6 when it arrives this autumn.

It’s the firm’s latest flagship model, boasting rakish five-door fastback styling, the latest VW infotainment systems and technology, and a powertrain line-up headlined by a 276bhp 2.0-litre TSI petrol with 4MOTION four-wheel-drive. It’ll go on sale this autumn, with a starting price around the £30,000 mark.

Sitting on the VW Group’s MQB platform, the 4,862mm long Arteon stands out from the rest of the VW range thanks to the implementation of a new design language heavily influenced by the Sport Coupe Concept revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015. The large bonnet caps the whole front end of the car, dipping into the wheelarches and meeting the new LED headlights. The lights themselves are seamlessly part of the wide, horizontal grille – a design trait Volkswagen says will be more prevalent in its next generation models

In the cabin, the most striking feature is the long horizontal air vent stretching the width of the dashboard, similar to the one found in the Passat. It’s joined by a low-profile ambient lighting strip, which merges into the front doors to create a cocooned feel up front. Three seats are in found in the rear, with 1,016mm of legroom for passengers. Fold them down, and it creates a 1,557-litre boot.

Six engines appear at launch. VW’s new 1.5 TSI petrol engine forms the base option with 148bhp and cylinder deactivation technology. It’s joined by two 2.0-litre options – one with 187bhp and a more powerful 276bhp engine mated to 4MOTION four-wheel drive as standard.

The three diesels are all 2.0 TDI units, with 148bhp, 187bhp and 237bhp respectively. 4MOTION all-wheel-drive will be an option on cars with the 187bhp diesel, while it’ll be standard on the 237bhp car.

Seven-speed DSG gearboxes are available on all engines, and will be standard on the 2.0-litre petrol models as well as the range-topping diesel.

VW's ARTEON can now be ordered at a starting price of 49.325,00 € in Germany! The diesel is unsurprisingly more expensive and it begins from €51,600.

In Germany, the Passat with the 280-hp TSI engine can be had only on the Highline trim level and it kicks off from €46,250.

A cool 3000 € more than Passat for the 2.0 TSI variant.
