I still do not like the looks. The front is way too busy and not in a good way. Its too cartoonish. I am looking forward to the all new Mazda 3 which is coming to the LA motor show with the industry changing compression ignition petrol engine. Given how good even the current Mazda 3 is all around, the new one is going to be the car to beat.

Noooooooo (read it just like a mom's cry in old Bollywood films). BTW can I add more 'o' to the 'No'. The first glimpse is indeed 'teasing' me now. You showed me your beautiful younger daughter and in the marriage you gave me your not so beautiful elder daughter. It looks much similar to Etios in the grille area. The side view is very good with out any cuts and creases, but when it comes to front and rear Toyota designers worked overtime. I think we need to like these designs as most of the companies are applying 'cuts and creases' where ever (im)possible and seems to be these cuts and creases are the basic elements of the 'future car designs'.

I actually like the new look. They have adopted the same with the new Camry too. It's clearly stepped away from the more staid designs on these ever popular cars.

Toyota could do a whole lot worse, if they wanted, like this:

I fully expect the old 1.4 and 1.8 to be retired for good when the car gets launched here, for two reasons:

1) this is an all new car built on an all new platform
2) the old engines are not in line with Toyoda-ji's mandate of 'no more boring cars'

I love the new looks and the fact that we get a hybrid powertrain. They are finally catching up in the engine department- the Honda Civic, Ford Focus and Hyundai Elantra have better 2.0 liter motors here in the USA.

Toyota should get this to India with the new engine and I think the diesel might be retired now.

Well done Toyota ! Made it sporty and up to date and yet it will appeal to the older crowd.
Should launch in India by Diwali 2019, not anytime sooner. Toyota India isn't very quick in bringing in their newer models into India. The Fortuner took ages post its Thailand launch and the Camry (a year old) is yet to arrive. The less said about the Yaris, the better !

Should be an interesting one for Honda. The Civic will come to India in its 4th year of its product lifecycle (2019) and with an all new Corolla launching in the same year, it will be an uphill task.

-New approaches to design, engineering, assembly and materials to reduce weight and improve fuel economy, safety and driving dynamics.

-Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite that includes a precollision system, dynamic radar cruise control on highways that will maintain preset distances between vehicles, and lane-departure alert.

-The L, LE and XLE trims feature the 1.8-liter engine found in the previous generation, "yet with more horsepower and better fuel efficiency

-The XSE and SE grades are powered by a new 2.0-liter dynamic-force direct-injection inline four-cylinder engine that delivers more performance while using less fuel.

-Toyota says is the sedan's quietest and smoothest ride to date.

I think that hybrids are ideally suited for Indian infrastructure. Developing level 3 charging networks will take time, and Indians as a whole have always been obsessed with fuel economy.

People with the "kitna deti hai" mindset would adore high mileage hybrids.

IIRC Innova was the exception there. Probably because it's their cash cow.

This is the latest version of the Corolla Hatchack sold in New Zealand. Engine options are 1.8l Hybrid with 120Bhp or 2l NA with 165Bhp. The car is a tad smaller than the previous generation (Which is not good for the rental business), though I must say that has not stopped them from buying the Corolla. The car looks sharp and makes a strong case even as a personal ride too. Sales seems to be very good. Though I see more rental cars than personal, they are now as easy to spot like how it is when a new Swift sells in our market.
