Volvo V90 Cross Country revealed

Volvo has taken the wraps off the V90 Cross Country, which is essentially a rugged version of the V90 Estate. The Swedish automaker claims it to be the successor for the XC70, which is presently in its last year of production.

As its name suggests, the V90 Cross Country is aimed at making the Estate a bit more off-road friendly. In order to do so, Volvo has raised its ride height by 65 mm as compared to the regular model. The front and rear tracks of the car have been increased by 20 mm and 40 mm, respectively. The company also claims improved front and rear departure angles with the V90 Cross Country. Moreover, it comes equipped with a Borg Warner all-wheel drive (AWD) system as standard.

The V90 Cross Country gets 20-inch wheels with high profile tyres and a longer suspension travel. There will be four different driving modes on offer - Comfort, Eco, Dynamic, and Rough Road. The Cross Country also gets Hill Descent Control.

Volvo has even added some aesthetic elements to complete the rugged look of the car. These include skid plates on the front and rear bumpers, and black plastic cladding around the wheel arches.

The V90 Cross Country will be powered by a range of petrol and diesel engines. Production is expected to begin later this year.

Re: Volvo V90 Cross Country revealed

Saw the V70 Cross Country in Volvo Factory last thursday. In general the station wagon has lost one of its USP - the Box. the boot in the outgoing V70 is the epitome of practicality that not even the XC60 can match. the functionality over form had given it a form of raw appeal.

No Doubt the rake in the back has given it a lot of style and will now get wider appeal design-wise but then, if I had to choose, I'd take the outgoing model just for the Practicality. In Comparison, the Previous Gen XC70 looks more masculine than the new V70 Cross Country.

I agree, the rear windscreen is too rakish. May be they could have gone somewhere in between.

Re: Volvo V90 Cross Country revealed

It has enough room at the back for rear facing child seats, Tesla style!

It already has AWD. So if Volvo intends to bring this to India, all they need to do is add some black body cladding
