The just unveiled Suzuki 5d Jimny will be sold only in select markets, it is not Europe on Japan bound.
Expect some sort of electrification when sold in such markets.

Suzuki has revealed a five-door variant of its smallest SUV and plans to launch the model in Africa, Australia, India and Latin America later this year.

It’s unlikely we’ll see the five-door Jimny in the UK or mainland Europe for the time being.

Suzuki Jimny posts record sales in Australia as the Japanese brand hits nine-year high.
The pint-sized Suzuki Jimny four-wheel-drive has hit an all-time high in Australia, as the Japanese company shrugs off semiconductor shortages to post its best result in almost a decade.
Shrugging off semiconductor shortages, Suzuki Jimny sales have quadrupled in the past four years while the rest of the automotive sector remained steady or hit reverse.
According to 2022 new-car sales figures released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, more than
5600 examples of the Suzuki Jimny were reported as sold last year.
The tally represents a 70 per cent increase from the prior year – and is more than double the number of examples reported as sold in 2020.
Despite record production – and allocation – of the
Suzuki Jimny for Australia, wait times typically still stretch from three to six months.
The longest delivery delays currently are for automatic variants; however, Suzuki has received increased supply of the three-door Jimny out of Japan over the past 12 months.
The growth in Suzuki Jimny sales in Australia is expected to continue this year once the
five-door version – unveiled at Auto Expo in India yesterday – joins the current three-door model from the second half of this year.
The Suzuki Jimny's sales record also lifted the overall sales of the Japanese brand in Australia.
Suzuki reported more than 21,500 new cars as sold in Australia last year, an increase of 23.5 per cent in a market that was up by 3.0 per cent.
It was Suzuki Australia's highest tally since 2013, though the 2022 figure was still 13 per cent short of the record set in 2010.
Beyond the arrival of the Suzuki Jimny five-door in the second half of 2023, it will be business as usual for the Japanese brand this year.
Most of the Suzuki car range is due for an overhaul in 2024 and 2025.

Suzuki Jimny three-door automatic orders paused until further notice. The 5d Jimny bookings are open.
Suzuki Australia has stopped accepting orders for the pint-sized Jimny three-door with automatic transmission
until it clears the current backlog.

The Suzuki Jimny three-door with automatic transmission has been taken off sale indefinitely from today, while the company catches up with the massive backlog of existing orders as wait times now stretch into 2024.

Suzuki Australia has advised Suzuki Jimny three-door manual variants are still available to order as the waiting times for these models are not as long.
|
Customers who have already ordered a Suzuki Jimny three-door automatic – and are still waiting for their vehicle to be delivered – have the choice of keeping their spot on the wait list
or switching their order to a Suzuki Jimny five-door automatic and going near the head of the queue for that variant.
However, the Suzuki Jimny five-door – unveiled last week – is not due in local showrooms until later this year.
Suzuki Australia also advises that
single-tone colour schemes have shorter wait times than two-tone Suzuki Jimny 4WDs with black roof panels
There are more than 3500 orders for the Suzuki Jimny three-door automatic which, at current production forecasts, could equate to a wait time of one-and-a-half years.
Sales of the Suzuki Jimny in Australia have more than quadrupled over the past four years.
Indeed, the pint-sized Jimny helped drive Suzuki Australia to its best sales annual results locally in nine years, since 2013.

For all the worry warts this should set their minds at rest with regard to the capabilities and desirability of the little Jimny. Australia by far has a way well developed overlanding and off road culture vis a vis India. If it is good enough for Australia and indeed for South Africa, Europe and Latin America, then it will be good enough for India, surely.:)
At a recent 4x4 show I attended here in Australia, the Jimny and Land Cruiser 300 series were the cars on display by most vendors to showcase their modifications and capabilities.
Keeping in mind Australia's ute culture here are Jimnys chopped to be utes with a rear canopy.
Suzuki Jimny 4Style is a premium trim with a sporty body kit, exclusive to Brazil.

The body-colored bumpers, fenders, side sills, and custom grille of the Jimny 4Style distinguish it from its siblings, trading the utilitarian looks for something more premium and sporty. The same applies to the black roof with an integrated spoiler, the special cover for the spare tire at the back, and the bumper-mounted LED taillights with new graphics.
Furthermore, the ladder-frame-based SUV rides on a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels with an exclusive five-spoke design finished in black. The tires are also different from other trims, with the local arm of Suzuki opting for a more road-friendly rubber measuring 215/70R16, although the suspension and the ground clearance remain unchanged.
Inside the cabin, there is a premium-looking fabric and leather upholstery with red accents and white stitching, alongside special floor mats and LED interior lights. Standard equipment includes auto climate control and a JBL infotainment but don’t expect any ADAS.

Wacso,
Could you share in lot more detail about the engine run-in procedure you followed.
- What was your rate of gradual increase in rpm for the first 1000 km, then 2000km etc?
- How did you increase engine load?
- What does your Jimny Owners manual suggest for run-in procedure?
In India, the Jimny Owners manual suggest driving at moderate engine speeds for 960 km. No towing a trailer for 960km. Avoid hard braking, especially during the first 320 km of driving.
Warm up the engine slowly.

Sat
Suzuki is planning more derivatives of the popular compact off-roader - Suzuki Jimny Ute and the hybrid before the EV comes in 2030.
- Iconic small 4x4 family set to expand as Jimny demand continues unabated
- The latest-generation Jimny three-door continues to command long delivery wait times long after its local release in 2019 and the stretched five-door Jimny XL has further boosted sales since earlier this year.
- But along with an EV version of the Jimny that’s expected to arrive by 2030 (one of five new battery-electric Suzuki is likely to be revealed by the end of this decade) and a hybrid version due before then, Suzuki is still considering a Jimny ute for global release – perhaps reprising the Mighty Boy name.
- Jimny sales have increased by more than 50 per cent so far in 2024, making it Suzuki Australia’s top-selling model and the second most popular model in the small SUV segment behind only the Mazda CX-3.
-Right now, delivery wait times for new orders of the Suzuki Jimny three-door remain between six and eight months for the auto and between four and six months for the manual.
-Wait times for the bigger five-door Jimny XL are two to three months for the auto and one to two months for the manual.
- Jimny EV, which is expected to be released by 2030 as one of several new electric cars for key markets like
Europe, Japan and India as part of a $US15 billion ($A22b) EV push.
- But a petrol-electric hybrid version of the Suzuki Jimny is also all but certain to arrive in the next few years – most likely as part of a facelift.
- The derivatives like the Ute and the Hybrid will not be based on the current Jimny but will be as a facelift with revamped exterior and interior design.
- Unclear of the hybrid powertrain -48V mild hybrid or will it be the Toyota Hybrid system?

Suzuki Jimny Mata is the last chance to own a non-electrified version in Europe.
The special edition features discreet styling upgrades, serving as a farewell to the current version of the Jimny.
Quote:
The Suzuki Jimny Mata will be produced in 150 units, exclusively for the Italian market.
The latest special edition of the Jimny features a bi-tone exterior and rugged accessories. The off-roader is expected to return with an electrified powertrain in 2025. |
The name “Mata” means “again, beyond” in Japanese, and it’s commonly used in the expression Mata-ne, or “see you soon.” Suzuki Italia thought this was a fitting name for the final version of the current Jimny, acknowledging that “this could be the last chance to buy it before an indefinite break”.
