This Modified Jimny was supposed to be displayed at the Tokyo Auto Salon in Jan 2021, but due to it being cancelled, the Jimny will appear at the Nagoya Auto Show in March this year.

This seems to be the most radical custom made Jimny, now presented by ESB.
The brand name is 'CLS BARREL', it made changes to the bumpers, the most drical being lowering the Jimny by 90mm.

Suzuki Jimny PRO comes to Spain as a two seater, with enhanced boot space and in a commercial vehicle format.

At first glance it is practically impossible to distinguish them.

becomes the perfect vehicle for agricultural use or in un urbanized areas, such as a mine, a construction site or directly as a transport vehicle when weather conditions prevent the use of conventional vehicles.

The Suzuki Jimny returns to the Spanish market but now does so in commercial vehicle format, keeping all its features and skills off the asphalt but adding a large rear loading area resulting from eliminating the second row of seats.
The main differences between the SUV introduced in 2018 and the new Suzuki Jimny Pro are two.

1. the new model has been approved in category N1 (intended for the transport of goods) and is therefore a commercial vehicle and has to be adapted to this regulation.

2. This commercial variant of the Jimny loses the two rear seats to win a spacious and spacious fully flat trunk (863 liters), ideal for transport or activities typical of commercial vehicles.

Some news coming our way. This could well be the start of 5 door Jimny

So its a 3 door LWB, just like Gypsy was to the SJ410 SWB.
I highly doubt Maruti will launch or make a 5 door version.

Well, that looks absolutely ugly. :disappointed

I wish they would introduce the 3 door SWB Jimny alongside this thing, at least as an option. Even if it is in a made to order only format like the Gypsy was at the end of its life. I'm putting forward my car upgrade just to see if they launch the Jimny at a price I can afford.

I'm pretty sure that the final product we get will be aimed at getting a piece of the Seltos/Creta pie rather than what the Jimny originally is.

No other brand would do this, to simply not sell an almost universally desired product, that they make and export from India, with already homologated powertrain, in the very country where it is produced. Ugh. :thumbsdown

I think the title of the thread should just read "coming next year" instead of "2018". We have been debating the imminent arrival of the Jimny for ages, even more so after the Gypsy went out of production. But Maruti is on it's own trip, with nary a mention of it's plans to bring it to us - IF they have any plans.

Wow what an ugly car.
As much as I wanted to buy the 3 door Jimny, I don't want to buy the 5 door Jimny.

Maruti Suzuki has done a great job of ruining a product which I had so much demand for it the world over.
Clearly they don't believe in - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I personally feel Jimny in its famous avatar that it is known for, is a force fit for Indian market. The current 2 door version is too small and its back row is good for kids only. A LWB version of 2 door model will be an eye sore I believe and will be like Thar with a much subdued look. Plus it robs away the cute look of a Jimny (again looks are subjective). And finally a 4 door version is again too boxy I believe and I am not sure if the silhoute of a classic Jimny suits a 4 door.

So it will be interesting to see if Suzuki brings this product ever to India, when its classic avatar is in heavy demand across the world with over an year waiting also.

The test mule reminds me of Jeepney of Philippines !
The camouflaged Jimny LWB may look ugly , but it seems like this LWB chassis would give birth to the rumoured 5 door version along with smaller front doors.

Good alternative for Bolero if comes with a diesel engine, also it will satisfy the volume craving of Maruti.

Haha. The 'tareekh pe tareekh' dialogue suits very well for MSIL to get the Jimmy to Indian shores. rl:

Many of us have been waiting to see Jimmy break daylight in India, and as the thread suggests, the launch has been speculated since 2018, and even in 2021, we're not sure of the launch.

Have never seen a car launch being eagerly awaited with such enthusiasm :p

The Indian Army still loves the 3 door LWB Gypsy even after 35 years, a LWB version of the Jimny may be just what the Army needs, with the extra safety features, coil spring and factory fitted convenience like air con, power steering(Even the tanks that our army have lack air con).

This is how a lwb 5 door version could look in flesh (The original image has been modified to match the proportions of the spy pics)
