Looks swell, decently equipped too, but most of those features will never make it to India.

I wish it was longer, at 3.4m its a dwarf and never be a proper family car, strictly a lifestyle offering.

Here's the launch TVC

According to BBC Top Gear Jimny 2018 is coming to India soon. I devotedly hope that it will come during the current year only.

Wasn't there a proposal recently that the govt. would allow manufacturers to sell 2500 cars annually without the need to get them homologated in India? I believe the Jimny is produced locally and then exported, opening a few units for local market wont be too hard I imagine. Depending upon the response they can take a decision of launching it properly.

That's for a new manufacturer - to test the waters before establishing local production. 2500 cars for a company per year.

Not for the biggest giant in the automotive industry who sells as many cars in a couple of days.

After the Baleno and first generation Zen, this is probably the first Suzuki product which has got my attention.

Looks rugged and no nonsense vehicle with all the baiscs sorted. A little more space to carry luggage in the back and i feel it would be India ready. Of course, it needs to have a diesel heart too.

Purely from the looks department, this is something very unlike Suzuki of the recent years.

How many of you noticed the small mirror underneath the main Outer Rear View Mirrors?

I think these small mirrors are just fabulous. You can see the description of the mirrors in one of the brochures and one of the shots of the interiors in this thread. I do not know if there is a puddle lamp integrated into it.

Suzuki's Jimny draws exceptional crowds world wide, bookings breaks all records and estimates.
Waiting period now is ONE year!!!

Till yesterday bookings cross 6000+ in Japan only. Bookings of Sierra exceeds its production estimates.

Speculation are bookings are open for Jimny Sierra in Netherlands. Bookings cross 500 !

Quote:

The number of units sold in Japan exceeds the production capacity of Suzuki. Even if you order in Japan, you have to wait about a year.

Production Estimate:
Quote:

monthly production of the new "Jimny" is 2,000 units , that the monthly production of the new "Jimny Sierra" is 100 to 200 ( fewer Sierra!)
Will Suzuki fast track other production locations for Jimny Sierra as Europe readies for launch later this year?

The new Suzuki Jimny is simply adorable. This is a fact and it is undisputed. The latest version of the baby off-roader is coming to our roads soon, and we should really be preparing a ticker-tape parade

What's really impressed me as an offroader is this little thing below the ORVM to see your tyres. Brilliant thinking. Hope someone makes this as an add on for other cars to clamp onto regular orvms.

Bloody Impressed with the Japs - it's the little things that go a long way - the tie down options, cargo net options, etc.

It's going to be a good season for 4x4s. Every other manufacturer has been launching raised hatches and pitching them as SUVs. It's time to reclaim the SUV tag by proper 4x4 machines. Gurkha Extreme 140 bhp, Tata HX5 are going to be launched. Suzuki can really add to the fun. There is so much dearth of proper 4x4s in India. 3 door is absolutely the right dimensions for Indian trails. Turning radius of 4.9m is brilliant and 210mm ground clearance will make do. Cmon Suzuki, make this 2018 Diwali special for Indians and launch it.

It's good to see Suzuki getting everything bang on target for this car. They haven't tried to make it look too retro or modern, and have come with a clean simple design that gives the enthusiasts what they've always wanted - A Landrover with Japanese reliability.

I hope Suzuki brings this to India. But I can't see them selling this for less than 12 lacs here, especially as it is. If they remove the more fancy stuff, and plonk in the K12 or the Boosterjet, maybe.

210mm ground clearance might not sound much - but you also need to factor in the wheelbase, which is smaller than that of an Alto!

+1

Also that 210mm Ground clearance is lowest part of the chassis, like in a Gypsy that will be the differential and shock lower mount, rest of the chassis is well above it. It being a live axle the effective clearance will be much more then a say a monocoque suv with independent suspension, this being a serious off road vehicle, check the below picture posted a few pages ago by volkman10. Then there is the approach and departure angle which is again much better then anything in its price range or even higher priced competition wanna be off road vehicles cough suv, cuv.
