The car looks amazing! Timeless design, extreme functionality, lifetime reliability and offroad dependability. I don't know what else you want from a car?

@varunswnt: definitely looks very similar, but will run much better and longer than any Land Rover lol:

This will sell, Maruti / Suzuki bring it here already. I spent my childhood roaming around on the humble Gypsy as it was a default vehicle for many government offices in he North East and this thing is nostalgic in that sense.

There are many Gypsy aficionados who would readily go for this IMHO. I would love to have this as a second car when I save up the moolah.

Absolutely perfect proportions worthy of being called a hardcore offroader once can drool on. Dimensions, hardware, build in the right quantities make this an ideal lifestyle vehicle that India needs. What the Thar should have been!

I for one will make an exception in my "No Maruti tin cans in my Garage" rule and take a plunge for this.

Bring it on with a 1.3 (heck 1.6:uncontrol) DDiS in top spec and TAKE MY MONEY MARUTI!!

Couldn't agree more. The car looks droolworthy in Jungle Green. The dimensions make it an able city car too. MSIL are you listening? You are already getting bookings for this. Just bring it to India. If priced right, the Jimny can fight off some established cross-overs in the market.

Looking forward to the Jimny. Seems like a perfect little offroader/adventure vehicle, in a good looking retro-modern package, for someone who wants the 4x4 capabilities, but, without compromising on the creature comforts. Would make a nice daily also, due to its tiny dimensions.-----

Dear Maruti, you're making enough money from the Swift, Dzire and Brezza. You can afford to launch a car that caters to a niche market. Please bring this to India as the new Gypsy---.

@Maruti Suzuki/ Global Suzuki... have consolidated for you the plea from car lovers/ entusisats, this trend will be no different all across India and same as seen across the Globe. Hope the message is clear:)

Here is the message from the Suzuki's Design Engineer of Jimny!

New Suzuki Jimny in 2018-suz6.jpg

Translated as:

Quote:

Since the first model was released in 1970, Jimny has been loved as a car with full 4WD performance while it is a compact body. The current model has also maintained almost unchanged sales volume every year for over 20 years since its launch. It is because Jimny still keeps genuine charm that can not fade even over the times.

In developing the fourth generation model, what we initially worked on. It was to consolidate the accumulated knowledge accumulated by seeing the active jimny in the world as well as the domestic for many years, to clarify the points to inherit and evolve. What kind of customers, what scenes and how did you use them? It is the 4th generation Jimny that evolved as a new car to respond to Jimny fans all over the world. The development concept is "compact 4x4 which combines bad road running ability and functional beauty that is not wastefully divided into the backland of the world". Eliminate waste, thoroughness of Jimny's richness. It is nothing other than the Jimny that inherited Suzuki's DNA and evolved as a car that only Suzuki can do.
Please do not hesitate to contact us, we appreciate your appeal of the new Jimny · Jimny Sierra and recommend it to our customers with confidence.

When can we expect crash scores? I don't imagine this to rank too high for some reason

Has Suzuki under estimated the 'Cult' of Jimny or is it the New SUV craze!

Frenzy continues, bookings in Japan sees a avg of ~ 10/ dealer/day ?

Worldwide Jimny is being welcomed, even where Suzuki is not present! Link

It is cute, adorable, and charming in a way only a small off-roader can be. And, if you make an effort, you can see some hints of the new G-class styling on it. This is a freaking baby G-class. Love!

the 2019 Suzuki Jimny does not seem to care about automotive trends or the crossover craze. The Jimny stayed true to its original personage sporting the recognizable boxy shape even in the 21st century. It has been only subtly tweaked conforming to the new age reverence for retro style.
Meanwhile in Japan - new pics surface:

Absolutely loving the images guys, Keep them coming. clap: The one in dark green looks so apt on the Jimny. I am sure Suzuki India must be having some brainstorming sessions going on whether to launch Jimny in India or not. Someone from Suzuki management pointed out the negatives about 3 doors and Indian market but let me assure you Mr. Sir, I am using Gypsy.. a 3 door vehicle since 4 years as my primary vehicle and we are absolutely loving it. I am sure there are thousands of people like me in India who are dying to see Jimny getting launched in India.

Dear Suzuki, Go ahead and set a new standard, create a new market of 3 door vehicles in India. That's how legends deal with a negative point. Hope you understand the sentiments of thousands of people like me and launch Jimny here.

Thar never sold in great numbers, thanks to its lack of luxury or even basic features! This on the other hand fits the bill of lifestyle vehicle and a decent offroader.

Jungle green just makes me want to have one! Good design is the best marketing strategy, Jimny could make a brand of itself, just like swift.

Gypsy and other LJ410 based sold in Thailand, Indonesia, Australia etc although a 3 door has a bigger wheel base then the SJ41x sold in countries like the US,UK etc.

I would prefer a longer wheel base version of this Jimny as well. Being a body on chassis it wouldn't be hard to get a longer wheel base version. But if they are making a longer wheel base version might as well make it with two additional doors.

This car needs just 2 things, okay 3 things, and let me call them just 3 things

1) A 5 door version of the Jimny Sierra
2) A longer wheelbase
3) A Diesel engine producing 90-100 bhp

This will sell like hot cakes, looking at the weather outside in Mumbai, how many of us city boys would not love to drive around in a car costing 8-10 lakhs which can probably wade through rivers, potholes and mountains?

Considering Jimny catering to a niche segment and diesel are being un-popular worldwide it is kinda ruled out.

Launching on 5th July, and brisk movement of Jimny in Japan,

Do you guys seriously think Maruti will bring the Jimmy to India? We have been hearing this news once a year for the last 15 years at least. The 2 jokes in the Indian Autimotive industry are the "Almost Certain Launch" of the Suzuki Jimmy and the Royal Enfield V-Twin Bullet

Maruti has still not made any statement regarding the launch of the Jimmy in India. Let's hope they finally do it and launch it at the right price (under 10L). The latest version looks nice.
