Hey that's not the corolla. Thats the new Camry. It is sold in 2 body styles. This is the second one.
I personally prefer this one to the one sold in India. looks better.

It's the same size as well has the same interiors and the same engine.

It is sold in singapore with 2 engine options 2.0L and the same 2.4L as india.

You can more details here:

Camry comes in thru the CBU route. Unless they assemble it here, the price cut is unlikely..

we need competition yeeaahh

Like it's looks waaayyy better than the Civic. If they come in at the current prices (9-12 lakhs), Honda will have a good run for their money.

And the diesel option if available, will have Honda crying for mercy in the Indian marketplace.

The current Corolla looks too darn frumpy for my liking.

Guys post no. 29 is the camry not the corolla. where as post no. 17 is the corolla.

All the cars[camry , aurion and presara] are being sold side by side in the australian markets. No reason why the aurion and camry cannot be sold side by side here too[atleast lets hope so].Maybe thats what people are referring to as the new accord competetor.

The new corolla could be a stripped down version of either of the two cars. The aurion and the new [mini camry] corolla also have a lot of similarities from the external looks atleast. It wont be impossible to have the new corolla for india based on the aurion either.

However I add that this is without any official news from toyota india side.Dont know if they are even considering a newer generation corolla for the moment and are more busy with their plans in launching cars/car which would help them get volumes in the indian market.

The aurion is effectively already available here i.e. the Camry. They just changed the front and rear.
And India always gets the one which looks bigger and luxurious. The aurion is very understated in looks and thats what i loved about it.
Not everyone will wanna shell out 27L for a car which is understated.

The corolla in post #17 on the other hand will be a huge hit. It looks simply superb.

20 lacs for a corolla, well why not put in 5 more and get a merc, bmw or an audi or the real deal camry or may be a octy superb.
at that price it better have something plated in 24k gold

Read about the first drive of the UK version here. Contains pics as well.

IMHO,

It looks real bad front on... :Frustrati

looks like toyota has a winner on its hand but 1 car toyota ought to be bringing back is the ae86 tureno thats one of the best toyota cars ever.

Hey guys come on.. we already have Toyota's best vehicle running in our country.. QUALIS ;) who can find a better one than that.. can be used as an ambulance bu just removing the stickers.. isn't that a great multi purpose use.. no-offense, just trying to highlight that most of the branded CAR makers try to market their outdated and under-graded vehicles in our country and still get huge profit out of it..

QUALIS might have been out dated... But it was still better than competition in most respects... Thats why it sold well...

Ofcourse it will be better, because most the International car manufacturers are doing the same in INDIA. So it was one of the best in some aspects among the underated ones...

Probably India deserved the Qualis more than any other car at that time. And boy, werent they were spot on with it? For the record, Qualis still had a lot of fans and a lot of them were sore that it was withdrawn!

Bottomline - These companies are business organizations out to make money. They have nothing against us or any country. They are not stupid and will do whats right for the company.

With the market maturing and the growing middle class, the Corollas, Camrys, Prados are here today and going forward all the Lexus cars be here.. Question really is "Are we ready?"

Just my 2c..
