During yesterday's final stage of the Tour de France ran ŠKODA KODIAQ the finish line first. Winner of the Tour de France 1987 Stephen Roche is convinced that the new SUV on the bumpy Champs-Elysées showcased in the best light.

"ŠKODA KODIAQ provides extremely generous feeling of space," says Roche, who sat behind the wheel. "He rides very nicely and very precisely obeys all commands. ŠKODA KODIAQ me on his debut in the Tour great fun, "says the Irishman, who is also the face of Czech carmaker. As official vehicle provided ŠKODA organizers of the Tour about 250 organizational and accompanying cars and more than 50 team cars. One of the cars was the Red Car '- SKODA SUPERB in shades of red Corrida, serving in 21 stages as the director's car in front of the race. In a similar appearance - with red-gray-black camouflage foil - in the last 21 stage, led the peloton to the finish in Paris .

A lot of the 30-40 lakh SUV customers buy these cars to tackle rough roads of our cities, a bit of offroading and handling difficult monsoon type situations. I'm just wondering where these requirements are well met by Endys and Fortuners, would one trust a Skoda product to survive some of these rough and tumble requirements what with all the failures they are prone to. I'd be as paranoid as dunking a Kodiaq into a flooded road as I would be my BMW.

Not so if I was at the wheel of an Endeavour or Fortuner.

Not trying to Skoda bash here. I think the Kodiaq is gorgeous and if it is to other SUVs what the Superb is to comparable sedans, I would love to own one - if of course the above concerns didn't exist.

We were invited to a preview. No pics till Paris Motor Sow. It is a killer subject to final specs. I will be providing more facts in a few days
