The 2018 Volkswagen Golf Mk8

The Current Golf Mk7 will get a mild facelift this year, the new car – due in 2018 – will build on this.

Next Generation Golf MK8 to follow VW’s pattern of evolution rather than revolution - will be more practical, more powerful and, most importantly, more fuel efficient than the current generation MK7.

The 2018 Volkswagen Golf Mk8-vw_golf_mk8_front.jpg

VW will stick with its versatile MQB platform for the eighth-generation Golf too.

Quote:
the new Golf will be between 35kg and 70kg lighter than the current car, and like the new Tiguan, will be both lower and wider. Plus, there will be more space inside thanks to more efficient packaging, as well as innovative features like gesture control and the Passat’s TFT dash
Quote:
it’ll be immediately recognisable as a Golf, with smart LED headlamps and a sharper, more sculpted grille.
Quote:
Under the bonnet, VW will introduce a series of super-efficient three-cylinder 1.5-litre TDI diesels – ranging from 74bhp to 120bhp. These are likely to feature in the new Golf as well as numerous future models, and emit less than 85g/km of CO2. The engines will also be modular, meaning each cylinder of 500cc will make it more cost efficient for VW to develop larger and more powerful units such as 3.0-litre V6 diesels – for cars like the next Touareg SUV – at a later date.
The Golf Mk8 will arrive on the market as a hatchback first, but an Estate spin-off, as well as hotter GTI, GTD and R versions will follow.

Beautiful!
The design is so sharp and minimalistic. I really like it.
By the way, what is that on the bottom part of the front bumper? Is it a camera/sensor for cruise control or is it just a design element?

Luv.

Re: The 2018 Volkswagen Golf Mk8

2018 is when the lease on my current car runs out, so this is something to looks forward to. But then, I am not too happy to read about the proposed 1.5L 3 cylinder engines.

I guess it is the sensor for adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.

VW seems to have borrowed some design lines from the Skoda design language as well. Some of the lines look very similar to those of the new Superb.

Drive on,

Re: The 2018 Volkswagen Golf Mk8

The Volkswagen Golf Mk 8 continues to do what it's predecessors did - be the best in the business!

I am sure it will be faster and more fuel efficient than the current model and continue to have great quality and classy interiors. What I'm not sure about are the looks. I find the front end of the current model a little easier to digest. The rear end of the estate version (SportWagen) has too many creases for my liking.

Otherwise, the car is all fine. The MQB platform is great - no need to change it at the moment. Waiting for more information on the GTI and R versions!

New Volkswagen Polo family to get SUV flagship. The styling will remain conservative, with cues from the facelifted version of the Golf, which is due before the end of this year.

Re: The 2018 Volkswagen Golf Mk8

Volkswagen is working hard on the VW Golf VIII. The new Golf comes in 2019 with a new design and new technology.

Two designs are currently still in the race. They differ significantly from each other though, but the experimental stage is for stylists long gone. "Making quality visible" is the motto, their implementation certainly hardly may cost money. The progressive design number one is shallower than the Golf VII, it has a slightly longer rear section and a straighter silhouette . The down to earth Proposal number two are reportedly stressed solid and timeless. The tailgate is a little steeper, beads and folds are equal parts style elements and decorative accessory.
Quote:
It is certain that the VW Golf VIII is easier, between 35 and 70 kilograms, it is slim. Newly developed seats, a longer wheelbase and a more compact front end will also create more space inside. The technology of the new Golf even exceeds that of the current Passat : The long list of temptations ranging from digital instruments via LED light and even more driving programs up to the head-up display , a large touchscreen . Even completely autonomously should the nearest golf can drive, the technology for autonomous driving is to be ready in time for the market launch in 2019, according to VW.

Looks gorgeous.
But it doesn't look "Golf" enough. I mean what happened to the straight creases and boxy timeless design!!
May be over time the design will grow on me.

Golf VIII
I am sorry, I dont think the real car is going to look anywhere close to this. I mean how are they going to get the air flowing to the radiator with this front end design. I think the person who sketched this probably got a bit too inspired by teslas and got carried away forgetting that ICE cars like golf need large gaping grill for cooling.

VW Golf MK8 Rendered In Line With VW's Latest Models.

Quote:
The new hatchback will sit on the same MQB platform as the current one but will lose some weight. Also the styling will be updated in order to be in line with the new Tiguan, Passat and the upcoming Touareg.

Golf MK VIII - debut in 2018
Quote:
17,000 Euros. For this reason, the design strategies are working with high pressure to reinterpret the forming language. Finally, progress will be pretty, high-quality and sustainably packaged . The visual appearance of the golf VIII Becomes flatter, more bullish, cuddly, more modern. Again, with a resist, more swept C-pillar, a classic joint pattern, striking luminaire graphics, dynamic architecture and absolute un-mistakability. But VW insiders promise more space in the interior.
The engine range is therefore being restructured: a 1.4-liter TSI engine will be launched in favor of the 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine (110 to 160 hp) , the small 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine By 1.0-liter three-cylinder. The Golf GTI and the Golf R remain true to the 2.0-liter engine, Which in the future will produce a maximum of 420 hp. plug-in and Electric golf are no longer there, the part takes over from the 2020 NUVe.

Volkswagen has made its intentions clear and is heading to taking a lead in the hybrid and EV space.

Quote:
In an otherwise boring press release highlighting the marque’s recent developments, Volkswagen has quietly presented the Gen.E research prototype – a vehicle that is telling us a lot about the brand’s electric future and could be previewing the next generation Golf.
Quote:
Volkswagen says the research vehicle - provides an insight into the next generation of automobiles for efficient long-distance mobility with a range of more than 249 miles (400 kilometers).

Re: The 2018 Volkswagen Golf Mk8

Next-Gen VW Golf to launch alongside I.D. hatch, will not have an e-variant!

Quote:
the carmaker will premiere the new Golf in early 2018 and just weeks later, unveil the I.D.
Quote:
There is going to be an extremely strong new Golf 8 coming, it will launch just a month ahead of the I.D. We believe that they both stand on their own feet, in their own rights
Quote:
an all-electric version of the new Golf won’t be built and instead the brand will only offer petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid varieties. Filling the gap left by the e-Golf will be the I.D., likely priced at around the same as the Golf diesel.

Re: The 2018 Volkswagen Golf Mk8

Volkswagen will be investing a whopping €1.8 billion into the development of the eighth-generation Golf.

Production of the Next Gen Golf to start in June 2019. A design sketch was shown at the Golf 8 Supplier Summit.

Quote:
The Wolfsburg factory - which is Europe's biggest car plant - will remain the most important one for the Golf output and it’s the place where more than 2,000 cars from the expansive Golf family are produced on a daily basis.
