Volkswagen started the process of pre-selling the new golf variant, the Estate - which became larger and more dynamic on the outside, spacious and flexible on the inside.

Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport Mk8 officially debuts – 300 PS and 400 Nm; 0-100 km/h in under six seconds!

The German automaker has now released a new Clubsport version of its venerable hot hatch.

The new Golf GTI Clubsport uses the same EA888 evo4 engine as the regular Golf GTI, which is a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder. Instead of 245 PS and 370 Nm of torque, the Clubsport serves up 300 PS and 400 Nm, all of which are sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox.

Performance-wise, you’re looking at a zero to 100 km/h time of under six seconds, along with a top speed that is limited to 250 km/h.
The Clubsport also uses an upgrade Vehicle Dynamics Manager that integrates the control of the front-axle locking differential (VAQ), the electronic differential locks (XDS), as well as the optional electronically controlled shock absorbers (DCC).

The Clubsport gets a number of driving modes, including Eco, Comfort, Sport and Individual, with a fifth being called Special. The new mode has been adapted to the very specific track characteristics of the Nürburgring Nordschleife, which is said to be more effective on The Green Hell.

Highlights include a softer suspension setting compared to Sport mode to better deal with the undulating nature of the track, and this allows the Clubsport to be 13 seconds quicker around the track compared to its regular sibling. New brakes too, with larger discs and aluminium brake pots – the latter shaves 600 grams from each corner.

2022 Volkswagen Golf R Revealed As The Most Powerful Golf Ever.

Packing a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, the new Golf R produces 315 horsepower (235 kilowatts) and 310 pound-feet (420 newton-meters), which gives it a 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds and a top track speed of 155 mph (250 kmh). Those power figures represent a 27-horse and 15-lb-ft increase compared to the previous model, and buyers can choose from either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional seven-speed DSG.

2022 Golf R comes standard with 4Motion all-wheel drive – but this setup is a bit different than in previous generations. VW touts a new rear differential that distributes power variably between the axles, with the ability to send up to 100 percent of torque to the outside wheel using a dedicated “Drift Mode” feature. The new Drift Mode is one of two special drive modes configurable within Race mode and joins standard drive options like Sport, Comfort, and Individual.

VW also totally retuned the Golf R’s strut-type front and multi-link rear suspension and gave it a 0.8-inch (20-millimeter) lower ride height than the previous version. The stiffer springs and new geometry makes the new performance Golf 10 percent stiffer than its predecessor both front and rear, with a one-percent decrease in negative camber and a weight loss of 6.6 pounds thanks to the lightweight aluminum subframe.

Photographers have spotted Volkswagen testing the new Golf R Estate ahead of its reveal. Based on the all-new Golf 8, the new model will follow a similar template to previous iterations. It'll also feature the latest evo4 iteration of the EA888 turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces 316bhp and 310lb ft of torque. We drive will then be sent via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to a 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.

The VW Golf might not get a new generation due to the rising costs associated with the development of ICE-powered vehicles and the ever-stricter emission regulations.

The name "Golf" has nearly the same brand recall in Europe that the name "Maruti 800" does here. So does that mean that we'll see the nameplate being used elsewhere (an SUV Coupe perhaps, as that's where the market is heading) or will it die with the MK8? And what of its platform mates such as the Skoda Octavia and Seat Leon?
