The 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift has been caught on camera on an apparent testing run in the US.

The camouflaged car has it's front and rear completely under wraps, giving rise to speculation that the new model will come with an all-new front fascia and rear profile.

Engine specifications are supposed to remain the same as the current-gen model.

Looking instantly recognizable, the prototype has a heavily camouflaged front fascia which suggests the production model will likely feature a new grille that echoes the one on the Edge and the facelifted Escape.
The headlights and taillights also appear to have been modified but it's hard to be certain at this point.
The interior is expected to receive some minor updates to make it more competitive with newer models such as the Mazda CX-3, Renault Captur, and Honda HR-V.

Additionally, the lower end of driver side door seems to carry some sort of badging which isn't obvious from these spy-shots. Any guess ?

Badging says 4WD.

If you look carefully you can see the rear diff, independent rear suspension and rear disc brakes on this car.

PS: I love that shade on the wheels. I want to do that my car!!!

Zoomed and it looks like "4WD"!!! Will not be for India I guess, or will it?

Definitely looks like 4WD or AWD. Those alloys look awesome. But the headlamps look the same.

Is the spare wheel outside reintroduced in the international version. Remember reading it somewhere that it being discarded for future launches abroad.
Maybe a temporary attachment as with only two nuts in the snap.

Actually the mounting is the same as present in the current Ecosport, you can see the third anti theft bolt also in the last picture.

Logo on right front door clearly denotes all wheel drive drivetrain. Configuration justified by the glimpse of rear suspension componentry.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that the AWD Ecosport makes it to our shores. If Ford product planning comes up with a clever grade walk, and makes the AWD available from mid variant onwards, this can again be a potential game changer in the sub - 10 lakh - rupee - compact - SUV segment.

Will take off from where the Gypsy left off. With the added comfort and much better safety levels.

The AWD wouldn't make it to the indian market. If ford had to launch it, they would've done that a while back since the AWD has been around for a while now in Brazil. Rear discs hint that it may have more power. 150ps version of the Ecoboost maybe?

Nice vehicle. If they are good enough to give us AWD and that lovely little EcoBoost engine and 6-8 Airbags and Hill Hold and Traction Control and AT Transmission etc, this is just about perfect for the India roads and that little bit of adventure as well.

Ford's excellent suspension and ride quality, coupled with good driving dynamics and its perfect-for-the-city, compact proportions and high ground clearance, will make it a popular vehicle.

Of course, in India, it has to be priced right for it to work but its overall finesse and comfort will definitely place it a notch or three, above its competition.

Spot on, the right side door clearly indicates its a AWD and the rear drive shafts too. There is a huge possibility that Ford might consider introducing AWD Ecosport since they need to bring something fresh in the market to keep the sales active.

With the way Delhi government is acting with Diesel's its no brainier that other states might follow soon and hence its wise for Ford to bring in their more powerful Ecoboost for the Ecosport and as per the combo mentioned above will be a captivating product from Ford. Ford has a sharp weapon in terms of Ecoboost and this is a good opportunity for them to make use of it.

Next-generation? I suppose not. This has to be the face-lift of the EcoSport. While the update we received was more of a model year update.

I wish they add reversing camera with a nice LCD display on the inside.

On the outside, I like the car as it is anyway - I don't know what Ford can do to better the EcoSport's (already good ) looks

This has to be Ford updating the current vehicle for the international market. And we should also see it here. I think the Brezza will make it happen sooner than later.

The EcoSport is based on the Fiesta and the latest generation Fiesta is still sometime away. So a new generation EcoSport can come out only after that.
