The 2017 EcoSport is expected to inherit the more bolder looks of it's elder siblings - the Kuga and the Edge - and is also tipped to come with the SYNC 3 system, according to Jeremy Schofield, manager of SUV communications at Ford.

Most importantly, the 2017 EcoSport will be offered with an all-wheel drive option.

This agrees with a development car spotted by Autocar's spy photographer during the summer, which wore a restyled front bumper with a new black section in the middle and lightly tweaked rear bumper.

This car wore a spare wheel on the rear, suggesting it is a mule for the South American and Chinese markets. The European-spec car will do away with the spare wheel to give the rear a cleaner, less rugged appearance.

But the option of four-wheel-drive may be added, with Schofield suggesting market trends could encourage it. "15% of B-spec SUVs are four-wheel-drive," he said. "It's a small but significant proportion."

Just before its unveil in US, new spy pics surface.

As revealed earlier the the model will have a slap on the visualinspired by the new generation of the Ford Edge.

Hood, bumper, headlights and mudguards were redrawn. The front grille is painted in matte and grey have trapezoidal format and will have three fillets with the Beehive-shaped background. The headlights of the model are narrower and helpers are at the ends. Already the bumper will have an extension of chest of steel at the bottom.

In the back, only the bumper will be new The taillights will have new design, but keeping the current format. Recently, the brand showed the SUV version in Europe without the spare tire hanging on the lid of the trunk. However, the national model(Brazil) will keep the spare tire on the outside

Internally, the change will also be great with new dashboard, seats and door linings. The most visible change will be the Panel that will have new instruments with the speed and Rev counter and separated by a huge digital screen in the Center. Air vents were also re-positioned getting below the sound system. In fact, all versions of the EcoSport 2017 will have multimedia center highlighted in the Panel, however, with varied functions according to version.

Don't know if I am right, but I read somewhere that the Ecosport for US export is manufactured in Chennai, so I presume the facelift would be introduced in India as well, but definitely not before March'17.

IMHO, the new version is less funkier and more SUVish and hence it would be much widely accepted.
