re: Fiat Tipo (Egea hatchback) spied

If I am right, Fiat Tipo in India was what we knew as the Uno.

However, the new car looks large enough in the pictures.

This is based on the new platform of Fiat Agea.
A compact sedan Egea (called Tipo in some markets)- Linea replacement and this hatch the Bravo replacement are the spin offs from this platform.

No, Tipo and Uno (I am mainly speaking of late 80's and early 90's) were different Fiat cars, Tipo larger than the Uno. Uno was replaced by the Punto brand. Then Tipo size was supported by Bravo/Brava/Stilo.

Exactly. The Tipo was a bigger car.

The sedan version of the old Tipo was known as the Tempra whereas the sedan version of the Uno was known as the Premio (Brazil and Argentina).

Hope the rendering is true.

That's a good looking rear. Simple and beautiful. Love those 500L inspired tail lights. But that grille got to go.

Re: Fiat Tipo (Egea hatchback) spied

Looks a lot more stretched than the present Bravo, especially on the tail section. The name 'Tipo' (meaning Type) sounds really weird though.

Look how far the "Tipo" brand dates back to!

http://superretro.com/the-beast-of-t...-cubic-inches/

And you are correct, it started as a nomenclature denoting the type of car, in this case the "type S76". Much the same way as Ford denoted "Model" (Model A, B, T and so on)

Re: Fiat Tipo (Egea hatchback) spied

The new hatch is spied again, a Bravo replacement - cheaper and simpler!

Quote:
One good way to prove this is by looking at the engine range made up only of 1.3- and 1.6-liter diesels. The most powerful unit delivers 120 horsepower, which doesn't sound like a lot when compared to the 165 horsepower of a Bravo 2.0 Multijet.

Expect to see this 5-door at the next Geneva Motor Show and in a dealership near you by around the fall of 2016.

Re: Fiat Tipo (Egea hatchback) spied

Tipo hatchback from Fiat is to rival VW's Golf in Europe. To debut in 2016, this is the Bravo replacement.
Looks familiar since this is the hatch version of the Tipo/Egea sedan.

It’s basically a hatchback version of the sedan, so expect the front half of the car to look virtually the same.

Fiat Tipo (Egea hatchback) spied-wcf2016fiattipohatchback2016fiattipohatchbackscreenshotfromspyvideo.jpg

Quote:
Only the rear end will go through some changes to accommodate the switch to a hatchback body style and we also notice the taillights have a different shape. There’s also a roof-mounted spoiler incorporating the third brake light along with a rear wiper and a reshaped bumper necessary after the adoption of a hatch opening.
The interior cabin which unsurprisingly has been carried over from the sedan and doesn’t look half bad for a budget hatchback

Re: Fiat Tipo (Egea hatchback) spied

More on the hatchback.
The Aegea platform will spin off 3 models - the sedan Egea/Tipo, the htachback and a station wagon.
Quote:
"Hatch" and wagon expected in 2016. The two volumes, presumably waiting to debut in the first half of 2016, will be followed by a new station wagon, which will debut at the latest by the end of next year.

Re: Fiat Tipo (Egea hatchback) spied

Tipo hatch spied during the cold weather testing in Europe. The hatch will be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor show.

Quote:
The Fiat Tipo 5 doors 4 cylinder petrol will likely be powered by a 1.4 litre and 95 horsepower, while the front diesel should be tested 1.6 from 120 horses; but they might also get other engines to extend the range.
Fiat - can you consider this for India as a premium hatch - a growing market in India ?
