Re: Top Gear trio returns with "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime!

I found the 1st episode quite upended to be honest. It was unusual to watch the trio as specially JC to be so subdued. I found the 3 to be same as attending the 1st day in a new school. What was the biggest quirk was the American audience and American setting in the beginning. That's definitely Amazon's doing as the USA is their biggest market. But the trio's humour plus the way they conducted themselves and the cars on top gear isn't something which an average american would like. I sincerely hope they pick up the show in the coming episodes. I think the American beginning didn't work.

Episode 2 : The Jordan part was too long, too scripted. Wish there were more car bits. The studio (tent?) part was okay, and the guests dying gag is getting a bit old now.

Episode 2 sucked big time! I was barely watching it and the guests thing is getting really boring. Except the Aston Martin bit, it was a big let down! Tip to those who haven't watched it yet - watch the Aston Martin bit and stop - you will save precious minutes of your life!

Re: Top Gear trio returns with "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime!

Episode 2 was big disappointment.
The Jordanian gimmickry was too childish and these folks certainly dont need such things to sell this show. I could almost relate to corporate team events to that 'gun battle' on display. The celebrities falling dead is lame thing and fails to enthuse. Hope this is a series in making and can change the format considering the viewer feedback.

Now I know why I fell asleep watching it. I can't recollect watching anything except Jeremy driving the Aston.

Episode 2 was good only in parts. I liked conversation street and 'Edge of Tomorrow' section was a good idea, but lacking in execution, especially once they entered the air plane.

One thing for certain is that I am not liking 'the American'. They should make him shut up at the very least. Just his second outing and I am already bored.

No 'American' in episode 3. Just a beautiful Gran Turismo with three beautiful and amazingly varied grand tourers. I liked it!

Re: Top Gear trio returns with "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime!

On sunday, I watched all 3 episodes back to back. I had a tough time keeping awake

1: Quality of cinematography is good
2: Top Gear crammed 3-4 topics in 1 hour, these guys stretch one topic into an hour. The Special Forces episode got stretched too long and was repetitive. The Grand Touring episode got boring with the predictable donuts at every venue.
3: The dead stars add no value

During the last series of the Wilman produced Top Gear, the scripts were breaking down, i.e. the one with the Peugeot. Andy Wilman mentioned that relations with the BBC were getting toxic. If it was not Jeremy's punh, it might have been something else.
