Re: Top Gear trio returns with "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime!

What an outstanding episode! Just loved the scenery - never realised Zimbabwe has so much to offer. And the music was outstanding too - as were all the obviously planned throwbacks! Kept thinking as they repeatedly referred to this being the last episode that there will be a twist at the end. But looks like this is it for now. Really am close to tears. Thanks a million for so much joy over so many years - Clarkson, Hammond and May. And hope to see you on some shows again.

100% agreed.
What a grand ending.
Loved every bit. Even though it was a slow burner, I didn't mind it at all given that we'll never see them together in this format again.

Loved the ending at the place where they started their adventures. An emotional trip actually. Perfectly placed song - 'Brothers in arms'by Dire Straits.

Matching shots of their first time at Kubu Island was a brilliant touch.

All in all, this is one fine case of brillant film making.

Having said that: there is one gaff. Once you see, you can't unsee. Check out timestamp 1:27 and pay attention to the color of the spoiler and check a minute later.

Totally ignorable though given the finess overall.

They ended this show on their own terms unlike Top Gear which had an abrupt end. They don't have to go around like Chris Harris (on Joe Rogans podcast) saying he's suddenly unemployed.

I've seen their brand of entertainment for half of my life. Will certainly miss their Comradery.

All of their work, even if some were controversial, will become classics.

One for the Road - 5/5

Bangalore vibes in this image

Love them, loathe them, but you cant have ignored them. The trio that spawned a generation of automobile and adventure lovers have finally hung up their boots as they foray into different avenues and their respective lives.

‘One for the Road’ which marks their last hurrah as the curtains close on The Grand Tour is a culmination of specials, with glimpses from the ages. Even if you choose to ignore the first half of the episode, do not miss the last 40 minutes.

As the trio reflect on their journey and take us back through the ages, if you manage to get through this without a tear in your eye, maybe this wasn’t a show you enjoyed at some point.

Thank you.. Clarkson, Hammond and May… we’ve enjoyed this journey with you and the team.

P.S. : Added two songs to my playlist following this episode - Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits and Montecarlo. These just added to the ambience.

Fortunately, we still can. Hammond has a series called ’Richard Hammond's workshop' running a class car restoration. He sort of reviews then as they are built. Hammond also owns a YouTube channel 'Drivetribe'. They review all sorts of cars.

James May also does occasional review through his YouTube channel called 'James May's planet gin’.

Clarkson seems to have retired from car reviews as far as I know.

But all three are still active on TV with their own series of farms and stuff.

Really worth the 2 hour length of the episode. With too many channels now reviewing cars, they added a bit of dramas and it was never just car reviews. Clarkson brought out the subdued self with the black hole of Calcutta remark !
