re: Hyundai Grand i10 'Cross' for Indonesia

I believe this is being debuted in the Indonesian market and I'm not sure Hyundai will ever launch this in the Indian soil. Logically launching this in India would be an overkill on the part of Hyundai as they already have the good old i10 co-existing along with the Grand i10 and there is no waiting periods for Grand i10 as in the case of elite i20 which necessitated the birth of i20 active.

re: Hyundai Grand i10 'Cross' for Indonesia

I think the Grand i10X is made only for the Indonesian market.

It may be manufactured here and exported to that country (& maybe another ASEAN market like Philippines later), but it's quite unlikely that Hyundai would want to launch it here.

The Grand i10 sold more than 10,000 units/month in May 2015 after a long time. Hyundai would want its sales to remain above the five-figure mark and they may try introducing more regular variants with the 1.0 lit. Kappa engine, AMT variants and maybe a mild facelift as well.

IMO, this "X" variant is unlikely to go on sale in India. Moreover, it just looks like a variant with some faux cladding and other bits. At least the i20 Active had more effort put into it by raising the GC (increase of 20mm), using different bumpers, shortening the final drive ratio and changing the interior trim colour.

The Indian market Grand i10 already has the useful stuff such as thick body side mouldings and functional integrated roof-rails. So the unnecessary faux plastic cladding bits can stay on the Indonesian "X" variant.

The only useful thing that's worth borrowing from this variant are those LED DRLs next to the fog lamps. I hope these are introduced in India (at least on the higher variants) whenever the car is updated/facelifted.
