BMW has officially revealed the all new X1. The 2nd generation X1 retains the core design of the outgoing model, but features more muscular definition and curvy design facets. Overall, BMW has extended the look of the new X5 to the crossover. Changes include a sportier front bumper, optional full LED headlights, a reworked front grille, tweaked ORVMs, new tail lights and a reworked rear bumper.

This is a nice practical vehicle, especially in areas where roads are not so great and improved ground clearance is a must. The high seating makes it a good highway cruiser(no headlamp glare) and front wheel drive ensure better fuel efficiency. The new front has the X vehicles' looks, that should help sales.

I was watching a review of the 2 series Grand Tourer by Carbuyer UK and the reviewer says the front wheel drive hasn't compromised the handling in a way that the majority of the buyers would notice. People who want a sporty BMW have plenty of options, there are 5 low slung sedans, 6 if the 2 series sedan comes along. The majority of car owners I am certain don't know if their cars are front or rear wheel drive, BMW says the number is 4 out of 5 which is why they are using the system.

The first X1 was a success - but not a real BMW. Here the Bavarians have now refilled and made a convincing compact SUV on the wheels. Fans of the brand, however, will have to get used to front-wheel drive and three-cylinder.

First impressions: It looks like a SUV now unlike the earlier X1 which looked more of a station wagon then a SUV so that's a good thing specially in India. The headlights follow the BMW design philosophy of merging into the grille and like other BMW SUV's the grille itself is bigger. Overall, this is how the X1 should have been in the first place although I am not sure how a X5 owner will react to a much cheaper car taking so much of inspiration from his 'real' SUV

A lot more grownup now. The new X1 gets the X5 treatment and is better for it. Looks wise, sits somewhere in between the loud Mercedes GLA and the understated Audi Q1.

Still feel the GLA & Q1 both are better options compared to the X1 and now with only FWD there is nothing to make the X1 stand out in anyway. Best bet price it better than a 3 series.

I so agree to this. Now the X1 has lost its differentiator. Even if the outgoing X1 was actually more of a station wagon than a SUV, it offerred a nice entry point (apart from the 1 series) to the world of rear driven German automobiles. Besides, the size was quite compact for our roads without compromising too much on interior space. However, this will make money for BMW.

Another good thing that derives from the new shape is the fact that rear seat passengers have more headroom and legroom than before.

This BMW X1 look very different and very handsome as compared to the current model. At first glance, i mistook it to its bigger sibling X5. The colour suits its personality. Also, the interior looks rich and plush with that shade.
This is one great ride.
