Skoda: Compact Crossover coming up

A new Skoda Fabia crossover rival to the Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008 , Suzuki's New Vitara is set to lead a bold Skoda expansion into the CUV market in 2017.
With the predicted boom in the SUV/CUV category predicted to account for 22 million cars a year by 2020, every manufacturer is going all out to have a piece of the market share.

The brand will once again be set to be playing as a budget brand, that once it was known.

Expected to be a spin off of VW's Taigun concept this will use a shortened version of the MQB modular architecture – with all the technical benefits and economies of scale that brings.

Quote:
In terms of size and shape, it’s easier to think of the new Skoda as a Fabia SUV. In keeping with the brand’s practical ethos, it’ll be slightly larger than the Fabia, higher-riding and with a bigger boot and more headroom, but similar styling themes will run through both cars.
Expect engines choices of 1.2 TSI or 1.4 and 1.6 TDI / (1.5 TDI for India)

This could be the CUV that will come to India, and interesting to see what are VW's plans for this segment?

re: Skoda: Compact Crossover coming up

Oh C'mon! Just give us the regular Fabia already! They did try something similar in India with the Fabia Scout; didn't they? Is this going to be a simple cladding job or they will rework the mechanicals? Pretty sure it'll be the former.

I believe Skoda must take the Indian market a bit more seriously. The new Rapid and Fabia are definitely overdue. With the new Octavia and refreshed Yeti and Superb in place, the Rapid looks like a distant cousin - bearing no resemblance with the family look. Also, with the GT TSi being 10L on road, the Skoda equivalent of this hot hatch might just be what the doctor ordered!

Cheers!

But, but ... didn't Skoda just announce that they will never enter the budget market again, and will only dabble with the luxurious offerings.

Re: Skoda: Compact Crossover coming up

A lovely looker for sure.
With this Crossover segment hotting up so much, this might be a good move for Skoda.
Again, it has to be priced well.
Because if one looks at the current pricing of the Yeti on road in Bangalore, it comes to 27.76 Lacs. Even allowing for their 1 lac discount which one will get if one is a serious buyer, we are talking 26.76 lacs which is a lot of money indeed!

Re: Skoda: Compact Crossover coming up

Looks Good, but IIRC Skoda did launch Scout version which looked similar to this...

Looks were never an issue with Skoda, rest all things were.

Re: Skoda: Compact Crossover coming up

One of the Four new Skoda SUV's in the pipeline is a sub compact C/SUV.

Also under assessment for sale in Europe is a small SUV that’s conceptually similar to the Nissan Juke. This model is under development primarily for China, where it should appear within two years. Assuming it gets the European go-ahead, it would go on sale here some months later.

Close to the release of VW's sub compact rumored as T Cross , Skoda's Compact called Polar is likely to debut in 2019.
