Next-generation Fiat Linea caught in Sweden Edit: Named Aegea, now revealed in Turkey

The first photos of the successor to the Fiat Linea were taken at a test facility in Sweden, where the sedan is undergoing winter testing. The model is heavily camouflaged and appears to be a bit longer and wider than the current generation.

However, India and Latin America will continue to offer the outgoing version for another two years.

The strategy includes targeting VW Jetta and Peugeot 301 buyers.

Like the Panda, the Linea will offer less premium features and the model lineup will be streamlined to reduce production costs, just like it is for Dacia.

Quote:
Production will take place at Fiat's factory in Turkey and the global marketplace is being targeted. It's expected that the all-new Linea will be underpinned by the Small-Wide Architecture that was also used in the development of the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X. Most of the engines will be carried over from these crossovers and we expect an emphasis to be placed on small units like the 1.3-liter diesel and the 1.4-liter turbo petrol. 5-speed manual gearboxes could be the norm, but a simple auto option should be offered on high-spec models.

All-New 2016 Fiat Linea Compact Sedan Spotted

Hate the part where it's mentioned that India will get the old sedan for another 2 years! They are happy with the sales or what?

Agreed, by the time the new Linea arrives in the Indian market they would have started testing a third facelift outside. What would it take for them to treat us at par? I guess better sales but that needs better products and service.
Its a chicken and egg thing.

re: Next-generation Fiat Linea caught in Sweden Edit: Named Aegea, now revealed in Turkey

Knowing Fiat, they'll get the styling right for sure. No worries in that area.

However, when the next-gen Linea comes to India, I hope better sense prevails and it comes with a 1.6L diesel. IMHO, the car should only be offered with the 1.6L MJD (or a slightly downsized 1.5L) and 1.4L T-Jet. Will be a great differentiator vis a vis its commuter competition, and also do justice to the excellent ride & handling package that Fiat offers.

Additionally, Fiat had better get the fit & finish right from day one itself. There's absolutely no excuse for rough edges in a 10 lakh car.

A heavily camouflaged prototype of the Fiat Linea replacement has been caught on camera undergoing preliminary testing in Italy.

Reports indicate, the car is expected to lose the "Linea" moniker as the model will be integrated in the next-gen Bravo lineup so it will likely be called Bravo Sedan and join the regular hatchback and a wagon version which will serve as a successor for the Stilo MultiWagon.

They are happy with the sales. Not of the vehicles, but the engines. Add to the fresh demand for the AMTs, FIAT is happily laughing all the way to the bank.

But, isn't the Bravo a full segment higher than the Punto; the car on which the Linea is based on? Does that push the Linea into a higher segment too? Or is it just nomenclature change?

Cheers!

Cartman

Looks a size bigger to me, specially the width. Linea was almost as long, but a bit narrow compared to the above spyshots.

Additional styling details are hard to make out but there's an upward sloping beltline, slender taillights and a relatively short trunk.
Fiat has been tight-lipped about the model but previous reports have suggested it will ride on the Small Wide platform that underpins the Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade

The new Compact Sedan, designed by Centro Stile FCA and developed in collaboration with the Tofaş R & D, will be manufactured in Turkey at the Tofas plant in Bursa. The commercialization of the new notchback will start from Turkey next November, before debuting on the lists of more than 40 countries in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), and therefore presumably also in Italy
The commercial launch of the Compact Sedan coincide with those anticipated in the business plan of the Group FCA last year. Also according to the plan, after the sedan, in 2016 should debut variants hatchback (the five-door hatchback, it would be) and station wagon.

Though the plan talks of India this Sedan could come to India and Brazil in 2017.

We do not know how basic and simple will be the new sedan from Fiat, but he has the potential to be sold in Russia, Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa and India.
The Platform is speculated to be the B wide platform -the same as the Jeep Renegade.
also taking Hatchback ( a replacement for the Bravo?) and station wagon versions. Could it fit in the premium hatch market in India?

Emphasis will be low cost, focusing on the entry-level market, where the Romanian Dacia has done well.

re: Next-generation Fiat Linea caught in Sweden Edit: Named Aegea, now revealed in Turkey

Earlier this year, Fiat’s new compact sedan (Linea successor) was spied on test in Europe. The new model will reportedly be underpinned by the small-wide architecture that was also used in the development of the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X. While the Indian debut of the new model is still a while away, Fiat has announced that a new compact sedan will make its public debut at the upcoming Istanbul motor show. It is in all likelihood, the successor to the Fiat Linea.
