The 2015 Hyundai Tucson is the hot news, in the car scene, as we speak:

Quote:

Hyundai has dropped the first design clue of its upcoming all-new Tucson compact SUV, which is set for a public debut at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show. The company states the forthcoming new SUV has a bold and athletic presence and a proud stance.

The sketch depicts the new Hyundai Tuscon sporting a muscular appearance. This forthcoming new SUV receives a distinctive chrome-framed hexagonal grille, narrow headlights and bulging wheel arches. On the rear end, the SUV will get boomerang-shaped taillamps.

Reports suggest that the upcoming Hyundai Tuscon SUV will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options delivering outputs between 140-170PS and 116-184PS respectively. A fuel-cell version of the SUV is also expected.
A 184PS diesel will be awesome, na? :D

More details on the SUV are unknown until now. The new Hyundai Tuscon will make its public debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show on March 3, 2015.

The up and coming Tucson- as we speak, couldn't come at a better time. The Compact SUV movement is at it's peak, and does not seem to be slowing down. The Ford EcoSport- whilst making Ford more and more arrogant, has given them some degree of confidence- Though. However- the rest of the range, well and truly consists of slow sellers.

Similar happenings at Renault. The whole range is extremely talented, specially the Koleos and the Fluence. BUT- apart from the Duster (still consistent- for nearly 3 years!), the story across the range is much the same. However- The Duster felt dated at launch, and seems prehistoric to look at, particularly when compared to fresher alternatives like the EcoSport- and even the facelifted Scorpio.

Enter the potential Duster replacement- The Captur: http://www.team-bhp.com/news/rumour-...ia-launch-2018

Compared to such automotive corporates, who have only largely a single seller across the range, the Hyundai Tucson comes across as a change. By and large, Hyundai's range is indeed successful.

Of course, even MSIL and Chevrolet are readying up compact SUV alternatives:

A] Maruti: http://www.zigwheels.com/upcoming-la...n-india/21033/
B] Chevrolet: The Trax- whose reviews can be found online.

Note: (The Indian ix25): The Tucson if-at-all-comes-to-India, will in all probability be priced in a range near- or beyond 15 lakhs.

The upcoming compact SUV from Hyundai, in the price bracket- similar to the EcoSport et cetera, based on the i20- in all likelihood will be the ix25.

So- We await March 3, 2015 now, don't we? :D

The previous (Indian spec) Hyundai Tucson: 2004/5-2008.
This car was well known- for it's butch looks. I recall, many did compare it- of all things- to a frog. lol:
Suffice to say- the model flopped. Big time. It was a car- too advanced for the prevailing market scene in India. It was well known- well engineered- and very rugged- no doubt- But this one flopped. Sadly- Another good car down the drain. If marketed well by Hyundai- It would've given a very good fight to the Honda CR-V.

It was assembled in Chennai from CKD (Completely-Knocked-Down) kits, imported from Korea.

Another of Hyundai India's short lived SUV's in the mid 2000's was- The Hyundai Terracan.

This one was around for a very short period- and went down without a trace. We were on the verge of buying a well maintained white one, from a prominent person in Bombay- circa 2010. Shortage of spares, and lack of response from the Hyundai ASC then (2010) was a huge concern, and hence, the car wasn't bought.

As is evident- This one is a fully sized SUV, likes of which are not seen today, thanks to the advent of these so called compact SUV's.

Too advanced for its time, YES, UGLY - NOOOOOOOOOO please:

Infact i still love the old tucson. When Duster got lauched, people formed a beeline and needless to say duster does resemble Tucson.

Hyundai will sell well now if they re-introduce it to the market. I feel Duster/SX4 and ix25 will be in same price range than in EcoSport/Maruti small SUV range.

The Terracan was built on a ladder frame chassis and had 4wd differential. It was a proper SUV. All the rest are crossovers!

The ix35 (aka tucson for the North American market) sits above the upcoming ix25 but below the ix45 (aka santa fe for the North American market). After launching the ix25 this year, Hyundai India must think of launching the ix35 (or re-launching the tucson! :)). And it should be priced slightly below the Fortuner.

It was essentially a 2nd generation Mitsubishi Pajero under the Hyundai-designed skin. But with a much better engine than Mitsubishi put in the Pajero.

That model line is now extinct, anyway. If you want something similar you can still pick up a Pajero (Montero in IND) which hasn't changed much since 2001, which in turn isn't radically different from the pre-2001 model except of the outer body panels.

Hyundai releases official pics of its all-new Tucson slated to debut in Geneva and scheduled to go on sale sometime next year. While the first-gen Tucson (the model we got in India) looked good, the second-gen model looked rather confused to my eyes. 'The Fluidic Sculpture didn't really work on the Tucson/ix35' is what I always thought.

The upcoming model is back to looking good. This time, the Tucson looks more like a smaller Santa Fe and carries Hyundai's family cues like chrome-slatted hexagonal grille (from Santa Fe), horizontal taillights that extend into the boot-lid (from i20) and a familiar interior layout.

Thankfully, Hyundai is apparently ditching its ix35 moniker and the Tucson would be called 'Tucson' in all markets. Is India on the Tucson's radar?

Any chance of Hyundai contemplating to bring this beauty to our shores? There's a huge bracket to fill between the 15L Creta and the 30L Santa Fe. Come on Hyundai, give us some good news please:

Before the Creta was launched, people were complaining that there was a huge gap to fill below the Santa Fe.

Now that the Creta is launched people are saying it's too expensive.

A Tucson will be more than 25 lakhs. At that price point for a 5 seater, Hyundai will not even try to get it here.

The new Tucson spied testing , expecting an August launch in Brazil.

Quote:

In Europe the Tucson will debut new versions of the 1.6 GDI engine (gasoline, with turbo and direct injection) with 140 and 180 HP, six-speed stick in the first case and dual-clutch Exchange option and seven marches to the most powerful. Among the diesel options, there is a 1.7 to 116cv and a 2.0 with 140hp or 190cv. The model should keep the Flex 2.0 178cv engine used by the current model.
