The numbers are out.

Ford will make only 250 cars each year and the base price will be around £260,000. That makes it around the same ballpark as the Aventador and £50k more expensive than a Ferrari 488 GTB. Gulp!

2 things are for sure. Ford is incredibly confident about the new GT which is good to see and it is no longer the working class hero.

Can't wait for the reviews.

And the quintessential 'amrikan' sportscar is wishing for a comeback! IMHO this feels a little less GTish and more LAMBOish in terms of design language! The original plain flowing lines of a GT were what really got my boat sailing all these years!
But not being a status quoist, i believe the change was and is necessary!
P.S. Please God let them plonk in a big motor and not go the Eco Boost way!!

The clean lines of previos GTs have vanished. Had it not been for that bonnet, one would struggle to decide which car this is. Turbo charging is the path all major manufacturers are following and Ford is no exception. For old times' sake, I would have liked it to have a V8 engine though.

Ford GT: Demand outstrips supply by 2800% after online sales portal goes live


Ford recently launched an online configurator for the new GT. This invites would-be customers to explain why they’re worthy of owning one – which appears to have been a wise strategy, because more than 7000 applications have been received.

Given that Ford will only be making 250 GTs a year, someone’s going to be kept quite busy sifting through that lot.

Ford GT production extended by two years

Ford has officially announced that it will be extending production of the GT supercar by two more years. This decision has been taken after seeing huge demand for the Ford GT globally.

The American automaker had introduced the new Ford GT at the 2015 North American International Auto Show. It was announced that only 500 units will be produced over the next two years. But the automaker received more than 7,000 applications globally. This motivated Ford to extend production of the GT for fulfilling the demand of a few more customers.

The company has made it clear that the third year of production will be for the people who were kept on the waiting list during the first application process. New applicants and those who weren't shortlisted previously will be addressed in the fourth year of production. This new application window will open in early 2018, while those who had applied previously but didn’t make it to the final list will just need to update their request to be considered for the new application screening.

The latest Heritage Edition to join the storied Ford GT supercar family is a tribute to the winner of the 1966 Daytona 24 Hour Continental, where Ford achieved its first 24-hour endurance win, which is captured in the 2019 film “Ford v Ferrari” – or “Le Mans ’66,” as it is known in Europe.

Co-drivers Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby led a 1-2-3-5 Ford domination at Daytona, kicking off a magical season for the Ford GT40 MK II, with additional 1-2-3 wins at Sebring and Le Mans. This Heritage Edition is the first to feature a livery famous for a race other than Le Mans.

“Miles and Ruby led nearly every lap of the 24-hour race and outpaced the competition by 30 miles,” said Severson. “The win was the first time anyone had threatened Ferrari’s dominance in sports car racing and represented a turning point in the Ford GT race program.”

Inspired by the bold white, black and red exterior of the 1966 endurance-winning Ford GT40 MK II race car, the new 2021 Ford GT Heritage Edition features Frozen White exterior paint with exposed carbon fiber hood adding stark contrast. Asymmetrical Race Red accents on the front fascia and roof edge, driver’s side door and underneath the rear wing add distinct visuals, while exposed carbon fiber shapes the signature 98 roundel graphics and speak to the supercar’s lightweight body. Unique Ford graphics on the lower rear-quarter panels plus one-piece Heritage Gold 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels paired with red lacquered Brembo monoblock brake calipers complete this new exterior livery.

Inside, the lightweight driver-centric interior features unique appointments including black Alcantara® suede wrapping the instrument panel, headliner and steering wheel rim, while anodized red paddle shifters and red Alcantara suede performance seats add dramatic contrast to the interior.

For customers looking for an even bolder look, an optional Heritage Upgrade Package includes 20-inch exposed carbon fiber wheels with a unique gloss red-painted inner accent barrel, while monoblock brake calipers are lacquered in black and detailed with Brembo lettering in red. Inside, ghosted 98 roundels provide a subtle contrast on both driver and passenger carbon fiber door panels of this this package.

Ford is getting pretty good at introducing these "paint job" special Gas and charging an extra $50k for them. The whole program has not been well managed and there are a large number of very low mileage Ford GTs for sale right now.
